Lots of details coming out today about the Fall Update. It lands on December 4th and it's kind of a knock-out.

Some of the known highlights...

360 Gets Virtual Console service:
- Users will be able to download full Xbox games. All games are only 1200 MS points.
- The first games include Halo, Crimson Skies, Psychonauts, Fable, and Burnout 3, among others.
- More games will continually be added to the service.

Video marketplace coming to EU:
- Finally.

360 to offer film rental service:
- Users will be able to rent a film instead of buying it.
- Renter will have two weeks to watch film after initial rent, or 24 hours after it's first watched.
- Warner Brothers will be among the film companies whose catalogue will be included.

Family Timer:
- Parents will be able to monitor and set restrictions on their kids playing time.

Are they going to modify the film rental service? Because it's already there, and I've rented a movie on it before.

It's only there in the US and Canada, so no clue whether this is something new, or just something old brought across the ocean. They seem to be marketing it as something new, so I don't know. I guess we'll find out more whenever Major Nelson gets around to blogging about it.

I think that's just kind of a standard pitch line thrown in since this is the first time EU get's the video marketplace. You know in case someone hadn't heard about it before since it'll be a new feature for certain users.

The price varies. For SD (480p), it's $3-4. For HD (720p), it's $4.50-6. I'm pretty sure all the new releases are $4 and $6 respectively, and the older movies can be lower. I haven't ever actually rented any movies, so I don't know the actual quality besides the resolution (480p and 720p).
