Forums - Sony Discussion - Is Sony definitively coming back now?

The ps3 will still be in third place by gens end but the ps3 wont go back into mediocrity (that was back in 06-07)......sony has just started to make profits on the machine and youve got to think that this is their number one priority right now.

if profits were sony's only motive then PS3 would't have had the blu-ray in PS3 and PS3 would have been in the first place.PS3 will cut the PS3's price again by $50 to counter MS's price-cut and then 100$ next fall and there is no way 360 will still be ahead of the PS3 at the end of this gen

The success of the slim design, recent profits, greater access to developers, etc all point in the PS3's favor.  Does this mean that things are past a tipping point, where Sony can no end the race in third place?   Or, will MS's natal project wreck all of this and send the PS3 back to the mediocrity that it has known for until lately?

I laughed so hard at that, I woke up my neighbors.

What's funny about that? it's the truth, the ps3 was terrible a few years ago but Sony have got their act together for now!

If you have surpassed Mediocrity and are continuously improving, please tell me how you can be send back?

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

One thing is for sure, the PS3 will never go back to being as bad as it was in 2006/07/08. Natal + a price drop may give the momentum back to the 360, but the PS3 isn't going to die any time soon.

Microsoft and the 360 have very little to do with it. Soon, Sony will be profiting on PS3 hardware, sales aren't going to plummet, and there's a strong lineup, both exclusive and multiplatform. Sony has turned this gen around, whether the PS3 finishes third or second (or first, lol). A popular, profitable console with a great lineup is a hell of an enormous step forward from that thing that launched back in November 2006.

The PS3 is doing quite well right now. Sony as a company is still a mess.

Well the definitely have put themselves in a better situation, but it isn't like MS has simply backed down. They still have a lot of market share and strong sales as well. It's doubtful MS will just let the trend keep going in Sony's way (just like Sony didn't let it keep going MS's way). MS is going to have some good stuff to try and keep its second place position and expand its market share. Of course, I've still been questioning, how much more the 360 could have been had it not been damaged by the "quality issues" for the first 3 years of its cycle. I think that hurt the brand than more of us have factored in and with a cheaper PS3, it could be affecting value perceptions.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! The 360 BEAT the PS3 by 10,000 units in America this week! That spells nothing but DOOM for the PS3! ;)
