Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Anybody wanna play Mass Effect?

Well, truth be told, I didn't really enjoy ME1 as much as I thought I would the first time around. The learning curve was steep and technical issues kinda threw me off the game a bit, but I did finish it, and would have given the game a solid 8, were I prompted to rate it.

However, upon recently spying some late game ME2 play at a friends house, I was immediately reinvigorated with the franchise. I read IGNs review which said that the game really kicks it up a notch when you have a file to import from ME1, which I didn't because I have changed HDs time and time again. I did beat the game(check my achievements, and friend me! I don't update it often because of my interwebz issues(like my PSN ID, both are "Zenfoldor" btw, and I use them basically to download games :) However, I barely remember the story, and I sold my old copy.

Low and behold, Amazon has the game on sale for 19.99, zomgbbq, amazon prime 2 day delivery folks!

So, the bread is of course, spent. The game is on the way.

I guess my question is....since ME2 is very, very, very good, and apparently the game is a continuation of the story that you made from the first game, is anyone else going to go back and play, or replay ME1 first, before starting ME2, and if so, want to kinda, I guess, keep a log of it here and regale us wiith tales of it over time?

I work fo a livin' so I guess I'll be going through it slowly. I'm gonna put my evergrowing anime collection viewing on hold for the time being and concentrate on the greatness that is Bioware, and their "Mass Effect" lol, and it all starts with ME1!!!

So, who's with me!! Get out your Eko-boks-kun or Rig-sama and let's play!!!

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Make sure you're a renegade...its the only way to go.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Good luck! The game will eat away any hours you put into it. But the story is great, and the effects you can have into the next game rock. Basically, while them don't do much, it's nice to see how even some small things affect the universe, and ME2 is alot about that.

I have a couple things I need to do myself, I am trying to 1200/1200 it:

I might be going through the game the quick way on insanity, then finish up with a couple shepards on casual so I can get my tech/biotic specific achievements, and sniper/assault gun achievements.
On those playthroughs I will also have to do a shitload of missions with liara and kaiden. The DLC helps a bit though.

Let me just be the first to say, if you did not know this, that the achievements require alot of playthroughs to get 1200/1200 in.

^^
That's probably alien speak to you right now, lol.

I did several playthroughs in preparation for Mass Effect 2.

Then I realized that I had made a horrible mistake by using female Shepards, so I did several more playthroughs using male Shepards.

I'll hook up the 360 tomorrow and fire it up. I've been itching to find a reason to finally play through this game.

It's a shame that Tali isn't bicurious.  Oh well.

I've had ME for a while and haven't played it yet. I'm a bit embarrassed to say it with the sequel out now. I was trying to finish the novel before I started the game but I'm either gonna have to start speed reading or just skip it and start. After reading several reviews of the 2nd game I'm a bit excited to play the 1st. I want to see how my choices will effect the sequel. I've always wanted a developer to do that with a game which is why I was so interested in Fable but it seems this game really delivers.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Doing the exact same thing right now. Played through the first time making decisions I would make if I was in Shepards shoes so I ended up mostly good so now I'm playing through again as a renegade. I'm probably going to have to play once more too since I played as a soldier my first two run through's and I really want to play as a different class before I get ME2.
