I now hate you... If you had came back one day sooner, my thread could have been infinitely more epic.

...one day sooner....

Well, fuck.

I guess I could still add some epic topping if I find the topic interesting enough. I'll check it out.

on 13 December 2013

Too bad.

The thread would have been a lot more interesting if the 20% who voted "yes" (i.e. supported the baker) actually made their voices heard.

Actually I'm talking about something much more sinister:

on 13 December 2013

I miss them too, Spurge. A lot of interesting discussion came out of them. But certain responses (including one or two from a mod) made me feel too discouraged to keep them up.

My Conker love is eternal! Though it may not always be visible on this site in particular ;)

In any case, we seem to be approaching much more interesting times compared to earlier this year. Which means that my... Conker love should be more apparent here in the upcoming months.

Nice of you to stop by, by the way! Always nice with a pleasant surprise when you log in for the first time in months =)

(It may seem highly unlikely, but the reason I signed in just now was to make a post. I had no idea there was any wall activity o.O)

Also, speaking of Conker, if you want to send me an updated top 50 list of your favorite games, I'd love to include it in this year's edition! No worries either way though, just letting you know. Henshin a gogo baby!

Hey, where have you gone??

Hi =)

I severely lost interest in the site for a few reasons; number one being that I don't care much about sales. Overall negativity surrounding pretty much everything discussed here is a close second, while the loss of several high quality regulars (combined with a few new somewhat... awful regulars) made visiting the site less and less worthwhile.

However, with some of them returning (D21 in particular) and more interesting times games-wise I have found myself lurking the site once again. Now resulting in me logging in for the first time for very long, and finding that my wall has some activity.

Nice to see you're still here, by the way! And thanks for stopping by =)

on 12 December 2013

Yeah, I can sympathize with that. I've had a hard time enjoying this site this year as well, and that's mostly because of the console wars and A LOT of Nintendo negativity... but like you said, more interesting times lies a head :D

on 10 August 2013

cool, TBH my prediction i hope is too low! That 1 day only for WW though :x, but lets say US gets 700k FW, next week should go over 700k imo!

First day sale vs A week of Sales!

on 10 August 2013

Agreed. Wouldn't surprise me if 2nd week sales are close to double that of FW.

Another point to consider is that X/Y will release much loser to the holidays compared to Diamond/Pearl. Which means that a lot more people will be patient enough to receive the game as a Christmas gift rather than buying it right away.

And, of course, the 3DS sales in the west compared to the DS.

on 10 August 2013

My absolute maximum in terms of sales for both hardware and software in that week(my prediction that i think if everything goes right)

5.00mil FW
1.25mil 3DS's Sold *.*

Same can be said about anything relating to dating.

Still, a child is not old enough to give consent and never will be.

Can't believe I have to spell it out for you.

on 06 August 2013

Children today were consider adults back in the B.C and up to 20th century. In Jewish tradition you become a man at 13. But going on to the argument of "consent". I have question do you believe the mentally retarded/challenged shouldn't to date? Are they in any less danger than a child at 12-13? Because in reality you are just as likely to be sexually abuse and not be on the same level mentally. But again feel like is more of an argument of "this is obvious" when things are never that black and white.

on 06 August 2013

Key words in your argument are "B.C.", "up to the 20th century" and "tradition". Science has made immense progress since then and now have a much better understanding of brain development.

Seriously, do you also ignore the medicine of today and rely on cures that were introduced in the B.C.?

If a person is deemed mentally challenged to the point where they cannot give consent on their own then yes, they should not date random people without a supervisor/caretaker making sure that the person is safe. These people are still in need of a parent figure in their lives.

Still, I fail to see how this argument of yours is supposed to support your point. Gaymarriage =/= child marriage on all levels. Suggesting that there is or will be a link between the two is disrespectful to all homosexuals, and heterosexuals who support their cause.

on 06 August 2013

Argument from B.C about them not knowing brain development isn't irrelavant because the results were the same. I will point out that up to the late 1900's it was obvious to people that a 12-13 isn't as smart as a 18+ "sometimes." Lot's of societies had the "wise-one" or leaders that were 18-32 never kids. It was very apparent that the older you were the more the intelligence. But the point being is that didn't change the fact they could become wife/husband 12-13 because they had sufficient knowledge. Back than all you need to know as a woman was to cook, clean, and have a moral upbringing. The men is was fight, work, and strong moral upbringing. The difference now from then is increasing age of humans, socially uncomfortable/feared, and the protection of education.

The argument about medicine is really a fallacy of equivocation. Because one is under social science while the other is biology/chemistry . They are not interchangeable. They are different fields of research and handle differently. One is based historical patterns of family/society structure the other is based the research of physical experiments based on chemistry or biology. My argument is one from the structure of societies ,they are societies were marrying young 12-13 is common and have perfectly stable societies for years centuries. You have to prove that based on history, that having societies with this type of marrage has had strong negative effects. But the problem is... you can't almost every society did this has reported no problems. History has shown if you make something illegal than it will psychology effect the society and make them more aggressive to get what they want(I.e drugs, sex, etc) I posted this on the forum it had a link to expert in the field basically confirming that with pedophiles. A some of them abuse child because they have a strong desire to have sex with them and they are banned form it ,so they get desperate. Try going on a island with a girl for a year by yourself and never have sex, you will start to have thoughts to rape even if you never do it. The body does this to tell you need to reproduce. Same thing happens in prison when straight men rape other men. They were never gay before but because of the psychological stress and body strong desire it changes them.

I suggest you read into sociobiological theories of rape and history of marriage stucture. You will get a better understanding of human psychology and how things change concerning young marriage.

Moving on.There are states were you if don't have the brain of a 12-13 and you still can get married. There are people who lose all memories and have to restart. Still can marry. My mother boyfriend has the brain of a fourth grader because of a beating. I can give you numerous more examples. The age of consent is a natural defense because people taught that it was never right, by parents. And need sometype of justication argument just like poor anti-gay arguments.

What I was basically arguing everything you are saying is no different from the irrational arguments about gay marriage. Like when our grandparents were told homosexuals is a mental disease. Or that gays are abused children or couldn't get a woman. You are just repeating what you were told and not the actual facts. I can't see the difference from you and that person. Tell me,what is the difference? History proves otherwise and the knowledge in the brain never matter before. I didn't even get to argue that that there are sometimes more mature 13 years than adults. Or that adults are sometimes dumber than 13 year olds. Or how you can measure enough knowledge or growth and apply it fairly to everyone with being ageist.

I think my point was proven when you said that it was disrespectful to homosexual and heterosexual because the use of disrespect is a sign of disgust which means the main problem is one from a personal standpoint. Not a logical one. One should not feel disrespected by something like this.

Anyway sorry for long reply lol. Just having a fun conversation. Thank you.

on 07 August 2013

"But the point being is that didn't change the fact they could become wife/husband 12-13 because they had sufficient knowledge. Back than all you need to know as a woman was to cook, clean, and have a moral upbringing. The men is was fight, work, and strong moral upbringing. The difference now from then is increasing age of humans, socially uncomfortable/feared, and the protection of education."

Another difference now is that happiness and consent in taken into consideration. Marriages where girls at ~13 years of age were involved were pretty much always arranged by consensual relatives, and whether the girl wanted it did not matter. Just because they "could" become wives during their childhood that doesn't mean they should.

And yes, of course there are cases where younger teens appear to be more clever than adults. But fact remains that the opposite is the norm, and that measurement of intelligence is not perfected. As such, the most logical (and less costly) solution is to set a marriage limit where the person is expected to have a sufficiently developed brain to give consent.

"There are states were you if don't have the brain of a 12-13 and you still can get married. There are people who lose all memories and have to restart. Still can marry."

Of course there are. People find ways (and accidentally slip into ways) of bypassing rules and laws every day - often leading to a tough call for the authorities to make.

"History has shown if you make something illegal than it will psychology effect the society and make them more aggressive to get what they want(I.e drugs, sex, etc) I posted this on the forum it had a link to expert in the field basically confirming that with pedophiles. Ah, so you are saying that by making pedophilia legal we will have less pedophiles? Even though this may very well be true, what message would making pedophilia legal send to the victims that are still affected? Should they just take the abuse repeatedly for the greater good?

I think not. As an example, I'd rather have the police chase down ten murderers at a time than let two murderers kill people while everyone acts as if such behavior should be tolerated.

Also, I'll let you know whenever I get my brother's confirmation.

on 19 July 2013

ok cool, this tourny might be small due to short notice but its fine, if you see the thread again i posted in the first post how coins will be distributed! Tell me if its ok! thankz

on 19 July 2013

Well, I like how finishing first in a 3 player race gives you less money than winning in a 4+ player race (as it should be).

The point system seems kind of strange though how one higher position gives you either one or two coins more than the previous player. A general consensus is (for whatever reason) that the higher you are ranked, the more coins you gain per position increase. For example, the Mario Kart DS GP points distribution is:

1st - 10p
2nd - 8p
3rd - 6p
4th - 4p
5th - 3p
6th - 2p
7th - 1p
8th - 0p

And in four player races:

1st - 10p
2nd - 7p
3rd - 5p
4th - 3p

So as you can see, the points gaps between each position tend to be greater the higher you are ranked. This is even more apparent in games like F-Zero and Formula 1.

Still, I won't tell you how to run your show. This is kind of nitpicking on my part, and you are the one in charge of the coins' value. So you should know best what to do =)

on 19 July 2013

*add "randomly" after "...one or two coins more..." in my second paragraph

on 19 July 2013

i got you, the thing is more people the higher your reward! Ex: If 3 people betting on something for $5 each winner would get $15 but if 8 people did winner would get $40. Also if i did it like that it wouldn't be fair for someone with 6 racers then someone with 4 racers(cuz they have a better chance of getting 1st). My way is that the more risk, the more reward! Thankz though im always up for suggestions

on 19 July 2013

Whoops, it seems that I confused you with my shitty/misleading Mario Kart DS 4 player example. As I said I am fully supportive of giving lesser rewards to winners of races with less participants. I only expressed a nitpick about how unconventional it is to declare randomly whether a higher position gives you one or two points more than the racer behind you.

Your system is fair on all accounts, it's just my OCD senses that are expressing a minor concern :P

But yeah, again, have it your way.

You expecting/hoping for a certain IP to be shown?

on 11 June 2013

Well, I'm a sucker for Zelda as you know. A teaser for Zelda Wii U would be amazing. But I'd be happy with some Wind Waker gameplay footage. But most of all, I want to see what Retro is cooking. Metroid? Star Fox? New IP? I must know.

How about you? Maybe a particular high-speed futuristic racer?

on 11 June 2013

Hmm... perhaps...

:P

But yeah, Metroid Prime 2 remains one of my favorite games of all time (sadly never played through the first one), so if they can make a sequel in that same vein that would be awesome. I have only tried out Star Fox 64 on an emulator, and must admit that it wasn't very enjoyable. Not so much boring though as it was annoyingly repetitive. Maybe I didn't spend enough time with it or something, I dunno.

Star Fox Adventure is a different story though: Have barely touched the game in eight years and yet I keep getting songs and different sequences stuck in my mind. True definition of a memorable experience. Even if it's basically a Zelda clone :P So I'd definitely be very glad if they announced a similar Star Fox entry.

And yes, a new IP by Retro sounds extremely promising. One TPS/FPS similar to Jet Force Gemini, perhaps? Supposedly it will be a "crowning achievement" for one of the former Naughty Dog developers, as I'm sure you've heard, so whatever this is it surely can't go wrong.

Oh well. I'm glad you're enjoying Wii U. Have you been praying to the video game gods for F-Zero U?

on 10 April 2013

Yah you guys are horrible!

on 10 April 2013

Well, though Miyamoto kind of called the F-Zero franchise outdated he and the rest of Nintendo staff now knows that there is high demand among certain dedicated fans. Additionally, the Nintendo Land boost along with Captain Falcon being a popular SSB character should guarantee at least 1 million sales if the Wii U userbase is big enough.

Not many think about it, but even 650 000 copies sold (F-Zero GX) is a pretty decent number for a 21 million console. A new F-Zero should do even better.

On a different note, I really can't wait to play the other first party offerings from Nintendo. The way the design team utilized the Wii U's power in Nintendo Land is fantastic. Most beautiful visuals I have ever seen in a game. As expected, Nintendo certainly won't need PS4 graphics to make their games look next-gen. You need to check it out some time if you haven't already :)

on 10 April 2013

Nintendo Land is a blast! Although it doesn't speak to consumers the way Wii Sports did, it's a better, deeper game. Unfortunately I had to leave my Wii U back in the States in January, so I have a lot of catching up to do when I return home in June :)

on 10 April 2013

Oh, so you do have a Wii U. I should have expected as much ;) And yeah, comparing Wii Sports to Nintendo Land is indeed like comparing Angry Birds to Super Mario... Land.

Also: Woah, that's a long trip O.o I'm guessing you're on vacation? Looks like this Wii U's software drought couldn't possibly have been more conveniently timed :P
