Just realized i never replied to you. I think Romney will lose for a number of reasons, but the biggest is... he's just not that likeable to the general republic. I don't think he's like to "win" votes so much as convince Obama voters to stay home. This means he has to work twice as hard, AND he is facing an enthusiasm gap himself that was hammered home pretty hard by the fact that every republican primary candidate seemed to get a chance to be the main challenger vs him... and none of them were pulling punches like is usually the case.

I do think you have a good assessment and I could see this very possible to happen. Romney indeed is not a likeable guy. He isn't really a people person when in front of the camera. However, is likeability really the main factor that determines what candidate a voter will pull the lever for? I think likeability in a candidate has more of a factor among women voters. likeability comes from emotion. The way most men are they can many times detach themselves emotionally. In polling we see this playing out. The women gap in polls is much larger between Obama and Romney than is normally between a Republican and Democrat. Its currently around like 60/40 in favor of Obama. The gap among men however is a little more than usual between a Republican and Democrat. Its like around 62 38 in favor or Romney.

Most often since the 1980 elections more women go and vote on election day than men, but not by much. Its usually around 52/53% women to 48/47% men. Also there are a number of polls out indeed that show a lead for Obama ranging from +1 to +6 above Romney, however many of those are only Registered voters. And you also have to pay attention to the internals of those polls. Those polls usually show a sampling of at leas 6 to 10 percent more democrats than Republicans. I agree that Democrats outnumber Republicans, but not by that much especially when you include Independents and force them to lean one way or the other between either lean Dem or lean Republican. When one looks at "Likely voters" polls its much much tighter and recently they are either tied or either Romney or Obama are ahead of the other by only 1 to 2%. I really do think this election is going to be much closer than you think. You have to also look at how bad the economy is right now. It has been like at least 43 straight months of Unemployment above 8%. And thats not counting underemployment wich is uppwards around 15% or more. It has stayed at that or above all through Obamas presidency and has even hit about 17%.. Those are not just figures but real people, and people can feel how bad an economy is. They don't need the stats to tell them. Especially people active in the work force, or looking for work. They can tell that many businesses and people are not in good shape and on more shaky ground than 4 years ago.

When you look at many polls on who they prefer on fixing the economy most polls show Romney leading by at least 4 to 6 points. Voters tend to cast their vote based on what is the most important factor to them regarding the state of the country. yes Likeability does have a factor, but the topic that most voters say is the most important to them also palys a big role and I think that is a combination of the state of the current stagnant economy and rising federal deficits/ debts. Plus you also have to look at voter intensity polls. Those show how much intensity is on each side for the voters. Romney supporters are outnumbering Obama supporters by around 11 to 14 percent right now in their excitement about voting. That does have a factor on how many from each base turns out to vote on election day.

I think a major factor in this election is going to be independent voters. right now they are slightly leaning towards Romney in most national polls. But there are still at least 1 in 10 that have not decided. I still think this election will be close, and that if Obama does win it dosn't have the potential to be by a large margin by any stretch unless something catastrophic happens to the Romney campaign, or we are thrust into some kind of military conflict involving Iran and Isreal. What are your thoughts?

I just now noticed the Daddy thing. As a father of four, I congratulate you. Being a father is the BEST thing in the world. Savor every moment because now you will know what it's like to have time fly.

Ya thanks. Life is for sure different now with a son. So far a lot of sleepless nights but it's all worth just with one look at him. Some good times and new experiences lie ahead. I sure have been missing a lot lately on the forum.

in Gaming Discussion on 10 March 2014

I am going to guess it will garner roughly around 88-90. Similar to Dark Souls 1. I think the downside will be visuals compared to other games out there but I think that will really be the main complaint....as long as their are no major Blighttown type issues or serious lag in Pvp/"jolly"Cooperation. I think most reviewers expect that the developers should have had enough time to smooth out...

Also a big problem I have is that when I play a game I invest almost all of my time into it when I enjoy it. If I enjoy a game I will likely spend months immersed in it until I have done every side quest, every outcome, ever achievement. For example: I got Dark Souls in April of this year. In June I had all 1000 gamerscore unlocked for it...Then just a week ago I bought Dark Souls for PC to...
