Samus Returns is only considered good because it's better than nothing. If we ever have the fortune of a good development team making another 2D Metroid game, Samus Returns will be exposed as the letdown that it is.

Whatever helps you sleep at night knowing you're of the minority opinion.

on 29 November 2017

I held the minority opinion that Switch would be successful and in general I am used to being ahead of the curve. What is a minority opinion now will be common knowledge in the future.

on 29 November 2017

So then, are you expecting that Samus Returns will widely be regarded as a letdown in the future, or only if another "good" 2D Metroid game is released? Because I suspect there's a wager to be made if it's the former.

on 29 November 2017

A wager based on something like this isn't a good idea, because how exactly would you define the conditions that need to be met?

Not that I am interested in a wager. Just saying that even if I were, it would be a headache to set up and go through with it.

on 29 November 2017

I was thinking we'd wait a few months and then create a topic on a Metroid fansite of some sort (say the Metroid subreddit) asking people if they still think the game holds up well compared to the rest of the series or not. If the majority of people say yes, I win, and if not, you win.

Wouldn't be difficult to set up or measure at all. I'd have no problems hosting it here as well if I wasn't nearly 100% sure it'd just get buried under discussion for dozens of other more popular games.

Why did you add random guys like Romo and Tebow to shad's roster? Shouldn't you add back all the guys he dropped?

The former two were a prank; he obsesses over Romo and Tebow all the time.

To the latter, he should have just about everyone he had before the drop; adding in all the reserves was going to be time consuming, and it didn't seem to be that important, so I wasn't going to bother.

on 21 November 2017

Well I'm asking because leaving guys like Dak and CJ Anderson just sitting there on waivers is a pretty big deal.

on 21 November 2017

Anderson had been benched by Shad and has put up an average of 5 points a week over the past six weeks. Given how anemic the Denver offense has been, I'm not terribly worried about him pushing some contender over the edge.

As for Prescott, he just put up -1.2 points. I can add him back if you're worried, but I don't think he's going to be good at least until Elliott is back.

on 21 November 2017

I mean if nobody else cares....it's not likely to affect me personally, just seems like somebody is bound to be very annoyed if they end up being caught out by those guys

on 21 November 2017

Btw, I think you should take over shad's team and make sure that an actual team gets started. It's rather a bit unfair to Dongo and Arminillo fighting over playoff position with Noble, that he should just get a free win because shad is a bad sport.

on 23 November 2017

Thought I had done that...I'll look into it.

If we keep the league going next year, could we make it like a half point ppr? I've only played standard so far, which isn't saying much since this is only my second time playing ff, but I like the idea of ppr.

I'd certainly be willing to consider it. It's probably an issue we wouldn't take up until we know who will be participating next year, though.

Do we have a trade deadline in our league?

on 02 November 2017

Your friend Shad makes a lot of troll trade offers. Darkwa, ASJ, and Hopkins for AJ Green, Ingram, and Doug Martin......? Fucking legit

on 02 November 2017

Yeah, I'm sorry about him. He's just an idiot. I can put a deadline close to the end of the season if you want.

on 02 November 2017

I was mostly just curious if we had one. I suppose it might not be a bad idea to have one before the playoffs start though. Don't know how everyone else feels about it, but I don't really love the idea of people shuffling pieces around in the playoffs.

on 02 November 2017

For what it's worth, he says he offered the wrong player by accident. He meant to offer Aaron Jones (Packers RB) rather than ASJ.

on 02 November 2017

You said SCAB actually replied to you in an email once right? Are you sure that was a real thing that happened? I can't get this guy to respond to anything in any way, shape, or form.

on 03 November 2017

My suspicion is that he's getting as sick of your trade requests as you are for Shad's. =p

on 04 November 2017

Dude should be jumping at my trade requests. With Garcon on IR, he official has no useful WRs on his team. I'm willing to give him like 3 for Freeman or Shady that would more than offset the loss of said players production. I think he's just blind or something

Not yet. I need to get to it soon.

on 30 August 2014

Finished it.

on 10 September 2014

How was it?

on 10 September 2014

It's a pretty good game up until the ending. There's a huge twist they try to pull which is so convoluted and poorly thought out it almost ruined the whole thing for me. So many plot holes that are glossed over, and the last 45 minutes is Layton basically telling everyone how he figured everything out by jumping to some pretty absurd conclusions which all end up being right while the player (as Phoenix) basically sits back and listen with almost no involvement.

Are you going to get the DLC case? Apparently it comes out tomorrow..

Indeed I will. I've heard good things from my Japanese speaking acquaintances, so I'm looking forward to it. How about you?

on 21 November 2013

Definitely, how long is the case suppose to be?

on 21 November 2013

Can't say I know. I've tried to keep myself as spoiler free as possible. The closest thing we have is RftA, which was 3 days long...although that's the last 3 day case that has ever been implemented in the Ace Attorney series.

My guess would be a standard 2 investigations, 2 trial sequences affair. Anything shorter wouldn't be worth the $6, and anything longer would be too high of a content to money ratio for Capcom.

Amazing last case, i would put it somewhere between behind the last case for trials and tribulations but ahead of the Apollo Justice final case. Felt sad that apparently fullbright had been dead along but still great, now comes the 2-3 year wait for the next game :(

Yeah...at least there's a DLC case and PLvAA coming within the next year.

< Ponyless posted something on MTZehvor's wall:

Well my thoughts so far... i haven't played it that much due to school but i still gotten some time to play it

Case 1 was solid, not the best case 1 in the series but still pretty damn good.

Case 2 stretched too long for me... also i don't like how they revealed the killer right in the intro scene.... i mean somewhat get it for case 1 (since it was so obvious with the whole ted tonate). So it just felt a bit too long.

Case 3 was amazing, loved every part of it. Al though i was a bit confused in the time line this takes place... this is before Case 1 or after Case 1? Either way, loved the characters in it, scuttlebutt came off too annoying and never really got better, but still i love the case. Was honestly expecting the aristotle guy to end up being some sort of main villain for the story, seeing as how he does run a school that teaches future lawyers, and has a ton of experience with the legal system.

I still don't quite follow the main story of it though, i get the whole dark age of the law thing but nothing major has been done with it... maybe in case 4 (which i haven't started yet) it will become a lot more clear.

Case 2 takes place well in advance of Case 1, and Case 3 takes place after Case 2 but before Case 1, sometime inbetween Phoenix reclaiming his attorney's badge and the courtroom bombing. To add to the confusion, the DLC case takes place inbetween Case 2 and 3.

So to summarize:

Case 2 is before the DLC Case which is before Case 3 which is before Case 1.

The whole dark age of the law things is honestly one of the game's weaker points. It continually bludgeons the player about it without really ever doing anything to show how this age of law with all of its forgeries and wrongful accusations is so much darker than the age of the law before (which had plenty of forgers, and plenty of wrongful accusations). Case 4 and 5 do go into a bit more detail over this...but it's never really done satisfactorily.

Which is why the sooner we get an Ace Attorney TV series focusing on the time inbetween Phoenix's disbarment and Apollo Justice the better. :p

on 02 November 2013

What's your favorite case out of the entire game? And the series if you can remember all the cases

on 02 November 2013

The entire series is easy: Bridge to the Turnabout was just an incredible finale, not only to T&T, but to the original trilogy as a whole.

As for DD...that's a bit tougher. Keeping in line with Ace Attorney's usual pension for great finales, I think Case 5 wins out by a hair over Case 3, but that's less due to Case 5 being underwhelming and more due to Case 3 being by far the best third case in the series.

Case 5 for this game is probably on par with Turnabout Goodbye and Farewell, My Turnabout. It's a little weak in terms of explaining details, but it does such a fantastic job of weaving together all of the character dynamics. The twist is fabulous as well, even more so than Case 3's, so to that end, Case 5 barely.

on 02 November 2013

What would be your opinion on Case 5 for the first game by any chance?

on 03 November 2013

Rise from the Ashes? I like it, but it becomes painfully obvious how this case wasn't originally meant to be in the first Ace Attorney It's got plenty of interesting characters, good twists and turns, and the finale (like most Phoenix Wright games) is great, but I put it behind the other Phoenix Wright finales simply because of how many retcons it forces on things. It is nice to have a bit more explanation as to why Edgeworth left the prosecutor's office, but it gets kind of annoying to read anything about Edgeworth from Phoenix in JFA when he's continually suggesting that 1-4 was the reason Miles "chose death."
