Shouldn't Activision Blizzard be making more money?

Enslaved doing pretty good on both consoles.

in Sales Discussion on 17 November 2010

Quantum of Solice showed strong legs at xmas, benefitting alot from Christmas shoppers buying it for just brand name. Bloodstone will inevitalby have a few more strong weeks once the holiday rush comes in, it still won't do brilliant but for the mediocre game it is it'll be fine. Can hardly expect or want a crap game to sell millions of copies.   Namco adjust Enslaved expected...

    GamTrailers Bonus Round 2010 Analysis

in Gaming Discussion on 15 November 2010

I really fear for the PSP2, for me it's in a position where it NEEDs to be a genius, innovative device with something more then is on the market at the moment, however Sony just arn't a company who are capable of pulling something like that off. They arn't typically innovative in their hardware design and it's hard for me to visualize what the PSP2 is going to 'do' that is going to seperate...

Microsoft: VGChartz uses "polling based methods" to track sales

in Sales Discussion on 15 November 2010

To be fair I don't think anyone (non admin) on here actually knows how VGChartz get's it's figures... I doubt VGC could be giving out it's data for free if it was anything but poll based... I've no problem with that though. Infact that is exactly what the VGC methodology page says so er, I don't think Microsoft are saying anything that isn't true here?...

    Kinect - 1.3 million WW

in Sales Discussion on 15 November 2010

I was expecting strong sales, it amazes me though how big this thing has got thus far priced at what it is. Personally thought it'd really struggle here in the UK, where a Wii can be bought cheaper, but Microsoft have made it the new 'must have' thing and kind of stolen the Wii's thunder a bit. I'm expecting shortages most of this Christmas to be honest, once the marketing campaign actually...

Enslaved doing pretty good on both consoles.

in Sales Discussion on 31 October 2010

I think people are being harsh on Castlevania sales, it's not a megaselling series and the genre it's in doesn't have many big sellers. All thing said and done it'll probably settle around just above a million. Hard to call but considering Bayonetta, Darksiders, Dantes Inferno etc all stopped around 1.4m it's not like Konami could have been gunning for 2 million sales. I hope lol. We'll see...

Will there be a dead rising 3?

in Gaming Discussion on 31 October 2010

They bought the (Canadian i think) studio who made DR2, so i think that pretty much confirms they've got them signed up for all the Dead Rising they can get money from.  I expect we'll see a DR3 in a few years time, but after that they'll probably try and mix it up as it's not really a series that I think can keep being milked past a trilogy.  Sales for DR2 are very strong too so...

Would Castlevania and Enslaved done better if they were exclusive?

in Gaming Discussion on 31 October 2010

Don't think either would have sold better exclusive if they were still published by Namco or Konami. They just didn't handle the launches for these games very well at all.  Certainly would have been bigger hits if Sony published them or something....

Zenimax buys Tango and Shinji Mikami

in Gaming Discussion on 28 October 2010

This Zenimax / Bethesda family have really been the dark horse of this generation. They seem to give their studios alot of freedom and time to make AAA games, never seemingly rushing Fallout 3 or RAGE, so I'd imagine they'll give Mikami a brilliant canvas to make something awesome....

THQ: We don't need new hardware, Kinect and Move are enough

in Gaming Discussion on 28 October 2010

I don't expect new consoles for a while still, much like THQ. Both Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to have record years for software this year - and there's no sign of a decline thus far. While we are used to a console lifecycle naturally having software sales fall after a 'peak' I think this is more simply due to major software jumping ship to the next console.  What I'm saying is, would...

October Update 2012 - Action Hack/Slash Sales Table

in Sales Discussion on 23 October 2010

Surprised me how low DMC4 was, always had it down as a series which was closer to 4m-5m. After a quick search though turns out it has never broken 3m and DMC4 is around about the average lol.  Just shows what a small genre this is tbh and how difficult it is to get big sales out of it. Certainly gives me a bit more perspective on the recent sales of Castlevania and Enslaved, and how...

Enslaved only managed around 20,000 copies this week on either consoles. Castlevania fared a little better, but overall numbers were grim for both titles. You were correct.  I still think it's kind of dissapointing. Agreed on both counts!...

Software Sales Definitely Appear to Have Peaked for Current Machines

in Sales Discussion on 22 October 2010

I honestly can't fathom why you're looking at this as sales per publisher, and record years and all this stuff. If for no other reason, it depends entirely on what they release and will change year to year. Of course Konami arn't going to have a record year without an MGS, or Capcom without RE, or Namco without Tekken etc.  PS3 and X360 are both set to have record years for software...
