    Fall Dashboard Update Thread

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 11 December 2007

I haven't been able to spend a lot of time going through everything yet today, but I've tried a few DivX movies and I can confirm that they work now. If you were streaming with TVersity before, you can skip it entirely now and play your movies without any hassles, burned or not. Also, there's a selection of free themes and gamerpics out today for the Xbox Originals. I've only checked out the...

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 04 December 2007

Fire up Bioshock today and you'll be treated to a bunch of new content, free of charge. There's a new achievement, four new plasmids, an option to disable VitaChambers, and a fix for the widescreen issues. I haven't messed about with the new plasmids yet, but I've tried the new widescreen FOV and it is a major upgrade. Patch Notes: http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/pcpatch.html ...

Game Resolutions - List of unusual resolution next-gen games

in Gaming Discussion, last active on on 10 November 2007

I saw Griffen's post on the COD4 resolution being 600P and it reminded me of a list I had made a few months ago about game resolutions. These are PS3 and 360 only, since the Wii is not branded as an HD machine. It's surprising how many fall short of 720P. I'd like to make a more complete list, so if you know of any confirmed resolutions, please post them.I've sort of been collecting this...

The game is at 91 on metacritic and 1Up released their review this morning, giving it the game's first perfect 10. Online play seems to be a huge feature -- I hope other fighters coming out will see this and make sure they get it incorporated.  Links:Metacritic - http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/virtuafighter51UP review - http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3164070 ...

X360 prices quietly cut in Japan - US/EU to follow?

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 23 October 2007

Munkeh said: Microsoft would never cut the price twice in a few months, especially after having left it the same for nearly two years. Anyway, they do not care about Europe (still no HDMI Premium here) but they might be concerned about the States Sure they would. They left the price for as long as they did because they could. They were selling well and had no reason to slash. Once a competitor...

Golden Axe: Beast Rider canned on PS3 - now 360 only

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 19 October 2007

Apparently, I live on Mars as I wasn't even aware they were making a new Golden Axe, but there's news of some such that the PS3 version has officially been canned and the title is now a 360 exclusive. The game is going to make the cover of November's Play magazine and will supposedly be an action-RPG with a focus on mounted combat and will release in 2008. I loved the original Golden Axe and was...

Project Offset on the radar again

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 12 October 2007

Haven't heard a peep about this game since April or so, but it looks to be aiming at a late 2008 release. Development must have ramped up because recent screens and movies are surprisingly badass. The game is 3rd person action (swords/knives), FPS long-range (crossbow, magic), with 5 classes to pick from, mounted combat, single-player story with a multi-player function involving squad based combat...

Microsoft/Burger King shill for Viva Pinata

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 09 October 2007

Microsoft and Burger King are getting all chummy again and BK will now be offering Viva Pinata toys for their kid's meals.Viva Pinata is one of my all-time favorite 360 games, so I'm happy to see that it's being resurrected like this. Maybe some of the new interest will lead to new sales for the title. And I'm not exactly a fan of fast-food, but I rather want one of those cocoadiles. I might have...

Bought a 360 this year? Registered it? Free games for you.

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 05 October 2007

I had an email in my inbox this afternoon with three Xbox LIVE marketplace codes to download games -- Joust, Frogger, and Robotron. The letter said they're sending them out to anyone who bought their 360 in the calendar year and registered it on xbox.com. I have no idea if it will still work, but if you haven't registered your console yet, I figured you might want to give it a shot and see if...

    Xbox 360: 24 months, 25 million sellers

in Microsoft Discussion, last active on on 05 October 2007

With November 2007 just around the bend, the 360 will have been out for 2 years since its launch. In that time, it has had 25 titles sell over a million copies (using Vgchartz numbers). That's an excellent run -- an average of over 1 game a month selling a million copies.Looking back on the games that sold a million already, which games do you believe will sell a million in the coming 12 months,...
