Final Fantasy XIII - Impression time

in Gaming Discussion on 18 March 2010

I see potential in this game that hasn't been exploited. They could have done a better job, that's for sure, but I think all games are like that, and people just aren't used to it becaues it's new and different. I find old RPGs are shit, because lots of stuff could be more intuitive, and those things are actually better in FFXIII, but it could still be better overall. To me, this game isn't worse...

SlumsofOhio said:Potions heals all = retarded. As a result it makes combat so much easier. The VA is below average for the most part and the graphics are not as good as people say. I'm sorry but FFXII is 5 times better than FFXIII at the moment (About 6 hours in).   I found it weird too, but the potions actually suck pretty fast, so it healing all members is not a big...

Play 25 hours before you curse the game, because it's extremely slow at getting you at what the game is really about. you level up roles, not the characters. and the auto-battle feature is only good for a few things, youll only use it for easier battles....

silicon said:I thought the beginning was awesome. They actually did a really good job of combining tutorial, story and game play. I'm only 6 hours in though.   It was 8 hours in that it started feeling tedious for me.   I'm having trouble rating it compared to other RPGs, because now that I've experience no MP, I have trouble enjoying the other Final Fantasies. For me,...

Final Fantasy XIII - Impression time

in Gaming Discussion on 17 March 2010

It's been a week since it's out, so I think it's a good time to start getting people's impression of the game. Here's my review/impression, starting to come out of the initial 20 hours, somewhat boring, part, without any spoilers: http://shiruva.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/final-fantasy-xiii-initial-impression/ Basically, for me, the first part is a bit too overdrawn, but it's starting to get...

How many users on these boards actually support "The Theory of Evolution"?

in General Discussion on 15 December 2009

People will always seek the "meaning" of life. And if there is one, science cannot answer that question, because science doesn't deal with purpose or meaning, it only deals with empirical fact. The universe had to have a beginning, because time can not extend infintely in the past; if it did, we would never be able to reach the present, because we would have to go through infinity just to reach...

How many users on these boards actually support "The Theory of Evolution"?

in General Discussion on 13 December 2009

Your response is pretty late...Coincidentally, I've been academically studying science and philosophy for the past 4 months and my opinions have changed since last I was on this forum.Understanding what I do now, I definitely wouldn't say that the theory of evolution tries to explain the origin of life; anyone, scientist and theist alike, who assert that the theory of evolution does so are going...

White Knight Chronicles -> Secrect of Mana successor?

in Gaming Discussion on 13 December 2009

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/sdcc-09-white-knight/53254   Watch this gameplay video. You can't tell me the battle system doesn't remind you of secret of mana.. only improved with a combo type thing. You can even switch characters like you could in secret of mana. There's been no real follow up to secret of mana's timed-type action in rpg. Mana games have only disapointed after seiken...

    Decline of 2D games

in Gaming Discussion on 09 December 2009

disolitude said So I don't think the state of 2D gaming is all that bad. It will never sell like it did back in the day, but do we really need it to be mainstream?   We don't need to, but I know a lot who sure want to. Are you satisfied with the few classic series' that have kept their 2D? I like Castlevania and all that, but wouldn't you want to see more and different kinds...

    Decline of 2D games

in Gaming Discussion on 09 December 2009

Im not saying it's starting to decline now, Im saying it's declined since the N64 era, and that it's been pretty constant albeit slow. Of course there's good 2D games being made, just like back then, but the advancement has been BS. I shouldn't have said decline. I shoudve just said that it's not being advanced as much as 3D, or something.. you know what I mean.   Megaman zeros were being...

    Decline of 2D games

in Gaming Discussion on 09 December 2009

I agree that it made a small comeback. But if you look at the future line up of games, most are shifting towards 3D. Thankfully Nintendo is keeping it alive for now, but PS3/360 developpers couldn't care less. Perhaps it'd be better to say that our more advanced consoles aren't exploiting 2D to their potential. But still, I see the mentality changing again in people, and 2D is declining, at...

    Decline of 2D games

in Gaming Discussion on 09 December 2009

3D is becoming better and better, and there's been an idea floating around since the N64 that more dimensions is better( which is BS) when it comes to games. We're losing our 2D, and I, and many others, want it back.   Don't you find it odd that most people are able to have as much or more fun out of 2D games which are now mostly only on handheld consoles? However, if handhelds keep...
