Hip-Hop was becoming so mainstream that the things that originally appealed to me were becoming ever so diluted. Today, I believe the term "underground" is being replaced by "independent" and or "alternative". In short, new artists that I would like, are harder for me to discover. It's not like I'm gonna be hearing them on the radio or seeing them on TV. But I still have a few artists that I like from years ago who are still putting out good stuff and also doing collabs w/ like minded artists that I get exposed to.
Oh and hell yeah with The Walking Dead, the wait seems to have passed fairly quickly.

I will not go out and look for new artist either. I do not like most of the new artist though. Most of the Pop/hip hop they have now on the radio I will listen to though. But actual Rap is not what they play on the radio.
I enjoy a lot of the older music, but I did not get into it much until around 2000 myself.

Yeah man, I know it's different for everyone and I don't criticize anyone for liking what they like. When I was younger I used to get real defensive about the music and what defines it. I mean I love it so I felt justified but I'm too old for that shit now. Plus I don't want to sound like that grumpy old guy who is out of touch and thinks that the only things that are cool are the things that he like from some half-assed golden age in his life, LOL.
