I just checked out some more info on why Kinect for Windows is priced at $250. It appears that this version comes with a license that allows developers to distribute their projects commercially (make money off their projects). So it's targeted towards professional developers more than hobbyists. Of course, hobbyists are still free to invest in one and make money from their creations.

Good find..My demand theory is debunked..lol.,I hope great things come out of this initiative. With that info in mind, the kinect for normal users of windows will probably be the same as the price for the xbox kinect.

Apparently the Windows version will also have some enhanced software to allow for better close object tracking (things like fingers and what not) that won't be implemented on the Xbox 360 version any time soon. It will be neat to see what devs make of the enhanced functionality.
