The NPD results for April isn't looking too hot exactly.
PS4 - It only mustered up 200K so it failed my minimum preliminary expectations of how a lead console should be performing. If it had sold 50K more this would be considered decent performance but the platform is partially struggling.
X1 - Having only 115K sold on it's home doesn't inspire any confidence at all but it still has 8 months left to get a decent image.
WII U - Doing 50K at it's peak year is pretty sad ...
Vita - Selling less than 3.4K the whole month is the epitome of pathetic.
Console gaming is not doing so well. I saw a post you wrote in regards to the unhealthy condition of console gaming relying on huge budget games. PC gaming and console gaming were always meant to be separate. M$ and -$ony have tried to merge the two. And in doing so helped create what we have now.
They were always jr PC's to me. But it is what it is. Things have to change and they will. Who will survive, who will stay involved in gaming is an interesting topic to discuss. I honestly don't think gaming as we know it will survive this gen. Gaming is a very volatile business.
The jury's still out on whether or not PS4 or X1 is an inferior PC ... The big selling point for the HD twins is that not only do they have good accessibility and good third party support but the selling point becomes stronger when coupled with big console only titles such as Destiny or the next rockstar game. One of the reasons why last generation HD twins sold so well is because it was a good package that had some worthwhile special games for it such as Halo, Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, GT5, and some other semi large titles.

I enjoyed the system but if you even so much as uttered the word Gamecube online or while playing online, that was the end of your evening lol. It's funny to watch the early 20...
Soundwave made a good point. This is the first time in Nintendo's history where financial losses are a regular occurrence. 1 loss in 25yrs prior to Wii U's launch. This alone should show Nintendo that the direction they took, both in handheld and home console was bonkers. Something will need to give because this is a business, and the aim is to make money, not lose it....
