More advanced Wii remote for all consoles?

in Gaming Discussion on 25 June 2008

in2games have been makign this sort of stuff for along time (long before the Wii came out).I was going to get the golfing game a long time ago. However I read reports that it wasn't very good so I never bothered.Likely hood is high that they'll never get more then mediocre sales with their games....

Just a question here since everyone keeps touting "transparency" lately. Exactly how transparent is NDP? Do they publish where they get their data from, their methodologies, their extrapolations and their corrections? I don't see why ioi "has" to do anything. This article seems to indicate that to be considered acceptable, ioi needs to publish who they get data from, what that data, how they...

Wow maybe Sony was right about Blu-ray?

in Sales Discussion on 03 June 2008

I have a PS3 and an HD tv (though only 720P) and there are very few types of movies I'd buy in blu-ray at the moment. The price for movies is still prohibitively high.Maybe as sales increase, they can drop costs enough that I'll start buying blu-ray exclusively, but I doubt it. DVD is likely around for along time still.I also adopted DVD really early on (started buying them to watch on my PC in...

Rotten Graphics, is it the Wii's Fault, or Lazy Sloppy Programming?

in Gaming Discussion on 29 May 2008

You know, for once instead of blaming the developers and calling them lazy, why don't you blame the people who actually make decisions such as the executives setting budgets and timelines...Sorry, but people constantly saying that its all the lazy developers fault pisses me off because often we (as I developer software) don't have that much say in what goes out in the final product.edit: Just a...

    Is Wiiware really this bad?

in Nintendo Discussion on 26 May 2008

Yeah, I'd have to agree. If I was downloading stuff like I do on the PS3 (for example, a 1GB demo), having to sit at the download screen would suck but for games that are less than 50MB, who cares. Go to the bathroom, get a drink, whatever....

    Energy solution for the U.S.?

in General Discussion on 23 May 2008

Cool, thanks Dogs Rule! So the question is now, if you wanted to build those 3333 CANDU reactors, how long would it take, how much would it cost, and where would you get all the materials for doing it (and where would you put them all).*edit: I don't know about you, but I vote somewhere other than near me....

    Energy solution for the U.S.?

in General Discussion on 23 May 2008

@largedarrylAnd exactly how many nuclear power plants do you think it would take to remove the need for coal and oil power plants? 1000? 10000? Where's the money going to come from to pay for those plants? I'm not trying to say that an alternative isn't required, but nuclear power plants aren't likely to be the answer this late in the game. Maybe if they'd been producing nuclear plants for the...

    Energy solution for the U.S.?

in General Discussion on 23 May 2008

largedarryl said:The only currently viable way of generating power is nuclear power. Every other solution is too costly, too inefficient and technologically behind. As for large scale windfarms, they are only now starting to see the effects on the environment because of taking that energy out of the air. Replacing oil usage with nuclear power plants is at best going to delay the problems. ...

New oil fields can't just be drilled tomorrow. They often can take years before anything gets extracted. Also, not all oil is equivilent. Just because there are million of barrels of oil available in some of these places doesn't mean it's the same type of oil the world is used to. These new oil fields are only economically viable because the price of oil is high enough to cover the extra cost...

Peak oil is starting to rear its ugly head

in General Discussion on 19 May 2008

If you are interested in the subject of peak oil, I'd suggest you read a book by James Kunstler titled "The Long Emergency: Surviving the Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-First Century".  In fact, I'd suggest everyone read it even if they aren't interested.  It deals with more than just peak oil, but thats part of it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_EmergencyAn...
