My e-mail account got hacked, received blackmail and I have only two days to pay up!

in General Discussion 3 days ago

I'm not sure whether I should approve of this thread or not. I mean, it's nice, but some of the posts here... Also, I think 'black male' was misspelled in the first post. ...

When was the last time the graphics of a game surprised you?

in Gaming Discussion 4 days ago

I think it might be Assassin's Creed: Origins. Despite having played it and then Odyssey, it still surprises me. I'm not sure what it is but something about that game's graphics is truly great. ...

Why are so many of us suddenly playing Minecraft again?

in Gaming Discussion on 08 May 2019

I can't claim to know, but the game got a pretty big update last year and another one just recently. Before that, I think there was a quieter period regarding updates. Personally, I've returned to the game due to circumstances in life. Well, 'returned' is not a great word, because this is the first time it feels like I've been able to invest a sizeable amount of time into the game. As a...

This place is getting deserted, and we have to do something about it

in Website Topics on 04 May 2019

alternine said: There's a plethora of reasons why the site is getting stale and old but I would probably be banned for telling it like it is. I guess that's part of it though. This site is too heavy on the enforcing. I know if I was new and saw what you can and can't say on VGC I wouldn't wanna sign up either. I'd imagine a lot of current users feel the same way which explains the dip. Just...

    Microsoft Employs Trash Talk Gestapo

in Microsoft Discussion on 02 May 2019

Good. People can be really rude sometimes. I imagine there are other ways to enforce at least decent behaviour, but this is good too....

How can we best improve VGChartz?

in Website Topics on 23 April 2019

After changing the email address was finally implemented (yay!), my #1 wish is now HTTPS. I'm not sure that's going to be a huge hit though, so I'll vote for better social features/more GameDB features. I have no idea what those might be but I imagine they could be popular. Oh, and there are still occassional complaints about ads, so I imagine there's still something wrong with them....

Is the market ready for a $500 console yet?

in Gaming Discussion on 23 April 2019

danasider said: Zkuq said: It's pretty interesting to see this thread just shortly after seeing a discussion (elsewhere) where people were seriously almost demanding and defending a $700 launch price. I'm sure there is a group of people who would rather pay more money so that the tech used in the next generation of consoles isn't so far behind. That's a fair stance,...

What do you say to judgmental people that say Superhero films are for kids ?

in General Discussion on 16 April 2019

For kids? I say "For kids? They're for no one!". More seriously though, to each their own. I couldn't care much less what people are watching. I've never been a fan of superhero films myself but whatever....

    PS5 Confirmed Backward Compatibility

in Sony Discussion on 16 April 2019

Sounds good so far. Well, I'm a bit skeptical about the SSD part because of what is still a fairly painful capacity-price ratio, but it's not terrible anymore and it's only going to get better....

    Are exclusives anti-consumer?

in Gaming Discussion on 15 April 2019

Depends on the reason. What's happening on PC with Epic Games Store is (and just for the record, I'm still not a huge fan of Steam), but, say, first-party exclusives on consoles are not....

    Ps3 Pro

in Sony Discussion on 07 April 2019

Probably not. Despite ~having to get a new PS4 after PS4 Pro was already launched, I ended up getting the slim model because I just didn't see the Pro being good enough to justify the extra cost. I also strongly dislike the idea of mid-gen upgrades. Simplicity is one thing I like about consoles, and we're getting further and further away from that and mid-gen upgrades are not helping at all....

Have You Signed up to the Epic Games Store?

in Gaming Discussion on 07 April 2019

I'm not sure I would have even because of the free games, but I have an account anyway because I've been fiddling with Unreal Engine in the past. Because of it, I've also taken advantage of the free games (and nothing else, and I plan to take advantage of nothing else). So yeah, I have an account but I don't think it was actually called Epic Games Store when I created the account, so technically...

Could the 'Nintendo Switch Pro' just be a new dock?

in Nintendo Discussion on 31 March 2019

Nope. It doesn't help portable mode at all, which means that all games must still work with the power there's available right now. It might be viable as a short-term idea but it definitely can't replace releasing completely new consoles....

Gaming on the PS4 is so ANNOYING!

in Sony Discussion on 27 March 2019

I agree. The installation hassle makes gaming on PS4 a pretty annoying hassle, and for me, it's much more hassle than gaming on PC (which is my main platform and was even before PS4, but this doesn't really turn the situation in consoles' favour)....

The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life

in General Discussion on 27 March 2019

I wouldn't be so convinced that there has to be life somewhere else in the universe. For all we know, the probability of life evolving in the universe might be so small that despite the incredible size of the universe, our very own existence could be practically a miracle and there might not be any life anywhere else at all. The numbers involved here are just so small (the chance of life evolving...
