How long would you prefer a console lifespan to last before replacement?

in Gaming Discussion on 08 July 2019

Barkley said: Zkuq said: yet it feels like the current generation just started (and it felt like it too started too soon). Don't think I've ever seen someone who thought the PS3/360 generation should have lasted longer. Was probably mostly because of my backlog. It wasn't a bad generation though, and I wouldn't have minded seeing it around a little longer. ...

How long would you prefer a console lifespan to last before replacement?

in Gaming Discussion on 08 July 2019

Longer is better. The next generation is already quite close, yet it feels like the current generation just started (and it felt like it too started too soon). I might change my mind if extensive backwards compatibility and cross-generational releases ever become a thing, but we're not quite there even though the situation has improved - at least judging by rumours. ...

Rumor: Sony lining up a bid to acquire Remedy.

in Sony Discussion on 03 July 2019

Would probably be a decent move for Sony, but on my part, I really hope this is not going to happen. I prefer my games on PC, and Sony doesn't exactly have a good record of bringing its games to PC. That said, perhaps Remedy could have a word in that matter, since PC seems to be important to Remedy. ...

    Ability to add poll options

in Website Topics on 02 July 2019

I suspect polls must be reset when adding new options because it might make the results skewed. Some people might have voted differently, had the new options been there since the beginning. Of course there might be cases where this isn't much of an issue, and polls might not be all that serious business either, so perhaps this point of view isn't important enough anyway. I just wanted to point...

Why did Pokemon even jump to 3D?

in Nintendo Discussion on 29 June 2019

I lack the information to properly assess whether now was the time to cut the number of Pokémon, but 3D is almost certainly the culprit here. Even models themselves are probably a lot of work, but I doubt they're a real issue on their own just yet. Instead, I imagine animations are the main problem. Moving forward, it might be possible to add back the missing Pokémon and keep re-using the assets...

Razer Drops Streamer for Calling Men Trash, Says It's 'Extremism'

in Politics Discussion on 26 June 2019

Razer has a point, but I'm not a huge fan of this. It's not exactly a horrible thing to say in that context, so seems like an overkill to me. ...

    First-Person or Third-Person?

in Gaming Discussion on 20 June 2019

Unless more context is provided, first-person. Usually controls feel better and it's more immersive. The Assassin's Creed games are pretty good and I especially love their worlds, but they would be so much more immersive if they were first-person games instead. It would possibly hurt the experience otherwise, but those are some games where it's actually painful to see how much the immersion...

Ellie's voice actress might have leaked TLoU2 release month

in Sony Discussion on 15 June 2019

I don't like watching fairly pointless videos because they're a huge waste of time, so I haven't watched this one either. However, it's entirely possible she was trying to formulate a suitable answer, and that answer was going to start with the letter F. Might be February, or might not even be a month. ...

Neural Networks to enhance old game visuals

in Gaming Discussion on 13 June 2019

Depending on the game, it seems like this can look either great or fairly poor. I mean, it's definitely impressive, but for games with fairly barren environments, I think I actually prefer the low-resolution original because in high resolution, the emptiness of environments really stands out. ...

FFVIII PS1 VS PS4 - Character models UPDATED!!

in Gaming Discussion on 12 June 2019

With remasters like this, it's easy for me to worry about characters looking out-of-place due to other assets (e.g. backgrounds) still being of lower quality. I don't currently see much reason for worry here, but those pictures in the video are so zoomed it's pretty much impossible to actually be able to tell. Also, the new models look a bit soulless to me, although that might not be that...

Shenmue 3 new trailer, exclusive to EGS on PC

Due to recent Game Pass additions my backlog for X1 increased to 130 unstarted games and probably around 100 more I barely played. That's one of the reasons I dislike these subscription services. I get tons of value but I have time to just...
