    How Color-Blind Are You?

in General Discussion on 14 September 2017

BraLoD said: Normal, but in two of them I had to rotate my table screea a bit to be able to perceive a pattern, it looked all gray at the direct angle I was looking At least one of the grey ones was completely blank but a couple of the others had numbers. These are actually easier for colour blind people to see,  who are, for reasons I can't recall in detail, more capable of...

Destructoid: Breaking down why Breath of the Wild is highly overrated

in Nintendo Discussion on 08 August 2017

Johnw1104 said: The only way you can be sure that a game (or film) really are superb is if they're soon accompanied by a surly wave of contrarians attempting to rewrite the narrative lol The game had some flaws (I can certainly think of a few), and a greater diversity of enemies would certainly suit the game, but this is a game that most people played waaaay beyond 40 hours before getting...

    A new low?

in General Discussion on 22 June 2017

Adguard. Covers both Windows and Android with a single license. I repeatedly appealed to the Admins during times when I was getting auto redirected to inappropriate sites when launching the site, getting full page ads that blocked the whole page, ads that stopped the page scrolling properly, made the page continuously jump up and down. I was roundly ignored every time. I'm not risking the...

EA “exploring other products” for Switch, has to consider “player differences”

in Nintendo Discussion on 21 June 2017

The Switch user base is three months old...pray tell what player differences EA have discovered in that time. I've heard these bullshit excuses from EA before. I know there are different kinds of gamers but I don't know any gamers who like paying the same for an inferior product (I'm talking features, not tech). If they, just once, produced a Nintendo game with feature parity, at the same...

Your most "Zen" experience in a game

in Gaming Discussion on 25 April 2017

I'm taking this to mean 'in the zone', rather than just imparting calm through atmosphere. For me it's hard to go past Bit Trip Runner 2 on the hardest difficulty. Honourable mentions for Bayonetta 2, the music levels of Rayman and Splatoon during some of my finer online moments. ...

Zelda: focused or just dicking around?

in Nintendo Discussion on 22 April 2017

d21lewis said: The thing about Zelda is that you'll see one thing and begin heading there. Before you get there, you'll be distracted by something else. Before you do that, something else will get your attention. Suddenly, a whole play session has passed and all you've done was dick around. This. I played with the aim of taking my time and not rushing to the end but I still want to...

Why is Splatoon 2 still stuck at 720p? Why are most Switch games full HD?

in Nintendo Discussion on 14 April 2017

I haven't seen enough of it to see if there is much of a visual bump but according to Digital Foundry they've aggressively prioritised 60fps. That and the desire to get it out the door quickly might be all there is to it I.e. Not enough time to optimise at a higher res....

Zelda BoTW improves performance with version 1.1.1 (Both on Switch and WiiU)

in Nintendo Discussion on 31 March 2017

Dual Analog Aiming Sucks, Hail Motion Aiming

in Gaming Discussion on 08 March 2017

Yup. I find it can very occasionally create issues for me with really quick, tight turns, but in every other situation I find it superior. To reiterate for those unfamiliar, it's dual analogue aiming with motion control for fine tuning. ...

Breath of the wild runs better on portable mode (digital foundry)

in Nintendo Discussion on 04 March 2017

When the WiiU came out, it was broadly lambasted in certain quarters for not having a standard 1080p 60fps, although Nintendo generally did an admiral job from the outset of prioritising 60fps. When the Xbox1 and PS4 came out with a host of sub 1080p games at 30fps those same quarters were deafeningly quiet My perspective:I love me a good frame rate but to be honest the dips in Zelda just...

The JoyCon grip feels very natural

in Gaming Discussion on 04 March 2017

I think its fine but a bit small and I'm not yet convinced about the sticks. Bought a pro controller anyway for multiplayer. Edit. I find the pro controller much better. It may in part be due to the fact that I'm starting to get more familiar with the controls but in my first session using it,  it just felt more natural. (And this is from someone who barely used the pro controllers in the...

Switch : Docking may scratch your screen ! Go buy à Screen protector !

in Gaming Discussion on 04 March 2017

Had a look at this earlier and I honestly have no idea how they managed it. The fit is very loose and the plastic rails at each corner are broad and flat. Would you buy a stronger switch-hardware with better battery/graphics?

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 March 2017

A slightly more powerful dock for the same assets but a 'guaranteed' 1080p and 60fps......sure. I'm not likely to use it too much in handheld mode though so a battery bump holds no particular sway over me, and by all accounts it looks very decent at 720p on the small screen anyway....
