Oh man I feel your pain with the guy who doesn't understand the difference between fact and opinion. Trying to help him, but man.

I always butt heads with him. It's like he's intentionally being incorrect.

    on 23 July 2017

Fun fact: I'm still arguing with him over it on his page. He just doesn't seem to understand that art is opinionated and subjective, all because some philosophers no one outside of philosophy class have heard of (and Aristotle) said so.

    on 24 July 2017

Great, you are already out of arguments and you are looking for help xD yes many philosophers defend the idea that art is not 100% subjective as it has some objective qualities, even Kant and Hegel agree with this.

    on 24 July 2017

Oh great, my wall has attracted the attention of someone who doesn't understand subjectivity.

    on 24 July 2017

Says someone that said this about people like Kant, Hegel and Aristotle: "interesting that so many people would seem to think that something that almost defines itself as subjective is not. It's almost like there's a reason they were seen as philosophers and not something more legitimate, like engineers"

    on 24 July 2017

Interesting coming from someone who says the actual stupidest shit, like "So if I say the Earth is flat my opinion isn't wrong is just unpopular, right". That is the single dumbest thing anyone has ever said to me on this site, and your decision to argue in the face of saying that top tier stupid shit is just mind-blowing. But you keep leaning back on my disregard for dead people from different time periods and cultures. Just remember that eels don't reproduce and you're probably better off as a slave.

    on 24 July 2017

Already said that was a bad exemple though, as I was trying to be ironic but I was using the term "opinion" as most people use it instead of how it should be.

    on 24 July 2017

Admitting it was a bad example doesn't exclude it from being batshit stupid.

    on 24 July 2017

Wait... Azuren... How are you the one looking for help, when it's not even you who started this comment tree here? O_o

    on 25 July 2017

Well, if we examine past responses from Goodnightmoon, we can probably determine a few things that would explain how he arrived to that conclusion. None of them are flattering enough to post.

    on 25 July 2017

Not the best one to say that since I'm afraid if we examine your past responses we get that you are deeply ignorant, first time we had a debate you had no arguments so you made 6 consecutive posts with mocking gifs, next time we had a disagreement you attacked me and got banned at the very first post because you had no arguments at all and the last time we had a debate you didn't had any argument either, all your posts were only trying to provoke me, there was no substance, but then this guy came and pointed a flaw in a comparison I made ( he was right) and you took that as a personal victory even if that didn't disproved the overall point I was trying to make, now in my wall you asked me to name one single intelectual that agrees with my point but I didn't named you one, I named you 6 including 3 of the most famous and biggest minds in history, you knew none, you discredited all of them for being philosophers instead of engineers and now you use that as a way to laugh about me, classy. You rarely have real arguments and you are not interested in the debate at all, you already made a thread years ago to express your personal disgust against me, and all this is just a personal fight, not a debate.

    on 25 July 2017

Oh goody. I kind of wanted this debate to continue and here it is. I guess it's Christmas for me after all. Goodnightmoon, you are saying that art isn't 100% subjective and I agree to an extent. So long as you take qualities that are universally valued by humans in art, and ask the question "What art has the most of these qualities?" you can make art quasi-objective. Ultimately thought it is still subjective, because the qualities being valued are a reflection of the subject at hand (humanity).

But that's all pointless because your original statement about the earth being flat has nothing to do with art. You really didn't understand the difference between subjective and objective, and now you are over here trying to defend the indefensable with a red herring about art not being 100% subjective.

    on 25 July 2017

I respond to posts with an equal level of thought as the post I'm respond to. If you feel my responses are deeply ignorant, it's only because your posts are just so low-brow that I can't justify using any more cognitive effort to respond to it than finding a funny gif.

As far as my indifference towards the ONE famous philospher you posted and the five nobodies that only people who wasted money on philosophy degrees know of; no one cares about what a philospher has to say about art. Except you, but we've already established that your not the sharpest crayon in the box.

Back to the topic of art; it's subjective. Keep arguing all you want, but at some point you'll have to look around you and realize "Oh shit, it doesn't matter what not-Plato thinks."

    on 25 July 2017

Cerebral: Art is 100% subjective, people just occasionally prefer to use objective aspects of it's creation or medium to judge it. The fact that others can also judge it while ignoring all of those things means that while those aspects of the creation are objective, the final product (the art) is still subjective.

    on 25 July 2017

Also, Goodnightmoon; get off my wall.

    on 25 July 2017

Yeah art is ultimately subjective. I agreed with him to the extent that so long as both people agree on certain qualities of art being "better" then it can become objective for the purposes of an argument between two people. For example: Two people could agree that the reddest painting is the best painting. They could then objectively ask which painting has the most red in it. In the same sense humans as a whole could ask the question "What qualities of art will appeal to the most people?"Then they could come up with a semi-objective answer. But that still isn't true objectivity, since humanity is the subject determining the outcome with judgments.

As far as old philosophers go, most of them are out of date. Nobody in Science tells you to read Origin of the Species. Nobody in modern Science would be impressed with "Einstein says this", or "Newton says that", in regards to a modern science question. Scientists recognize that people's ideas and thinking become obsolete over time. Nobody should bother reading Kant or Aristotle. They should pick up a modern philosophy textbook.

    on 25 July 2017

I perfectly understood what you told me about the problem of my comparison, I don't understand why you have the impression that I didn't, I said my comparison was wrong, but not my point, and my point was never about the Earth being flat or not, my point since the very beggining of that debate was about art not being 100% subjective, something you basically agree with me,

    on 25 July 2017

    Nobody agrees with you.

    on 25 July 2017

Hynad: What the fuck is wrong with you Hynad ?Why the fuck do you always have to be against me, I gave you arguments until you had none, can't you respect me and my point or do you have to be always like this?

    on 25 July 2017

Until I had none? I explained to you the distinction between the art, and the means by which the art is accomplished, and you said yourself that techniques aren't the art. YOU agreed to what I said. Now, quit the victim complex. I will disagree with whatever you say when it is wrong, stupid or ignorant. If you think I always disagree with you, maybe try to not say as many things that fit that description, and leave to aggressive and victim tone behind.

    on 25 July 2017

Also You are always on the wrong side and you don't even see it, I still remember when I was having a disagreement with one o the most obnoxious sony fanboys of this place for being an asshiole against xbox fans, you in your eternal wisdom and ""neutrality"" went and defended HIM just to go against me, now that guy has been permabanned for ages and is remember as an extremelly toxic user, yet you defended him just to go aginst me, that level of irrationality is somerthing else, this guy here has been weeks trying to provoke me, on the last debate every single of his arguments were pure provokation, but you are so dam blind you are doing the same as always, going against goodnightmoon no matter if the other person is provoking it, no matter if goodnightmoon is giving the right arguments, is pure and simple hate blidness.

    on 25 July 2017

I explained you that technique was so intimately related with art that cannot be separated and I put you a very good example of why whithout technique there is no art.

    on 25 July 2017

Goodnightmoon: Get off of my wall before I have you reported. This is your last warning. No more responses, no more quips, no more whining about how people disagree with you. Get off.

    on 25 July 2017

Ok, your wall, your rules. I'm out of here.

    on 25 July 2017

What did I just fucking say? No responses, no quips, no whining; that doesn't mean "Here, have the last word before you go", it means get the fuck off my wall.

    on 25 July 2017

    LOL!!!
How is any of this relevent to the argument? I don't care whatever is going on between you and whoever else. I argue the topic that's discussed. And I fid so while remaining calm and without throwing a fit the way you always do, while you start crying when people don't agree with your stance and your attitude.

Bringing up shit from ages ago that's completely irrelevent to what's being discussed doesn't help you in the slightest. You are reaching at anything to make yourself feel better, but all you accomplish by doing so is come off as a crybaby. Lose the victim complex and the aggressive tone, and argue the damn topic.

    Games?

    on 30 June 2017

A bit. I've been going back to Kingdom Hearts Final Mix over and over to get the Platinum. Just need to beat the game in Proud now, and I'm about to finish the first run of Hollow Bastion.

I don't have much interest in it.

    on 09 June 2017

What about it? I'm sure it'll be cool, but I'm more into Souls-like than I am into spectacle brawler.

I didn't ask you to choose only one, I just wanted to know if you were hyped for it...

    on 09 June 2017

Oh. Not, not really. To me, God of War ended with 3.

    on 09 June 2017

Why? There can't be enough Kratos.

    on 09 June 2017

Eh. He's a pretty two-dimensional character that Santa Monica really wants to flesh out for some reason. Three games was enough for me.

    on 09 June 2017

    6 wasn't enough, you meant.

    on 09 June 2017

    Nah. I mean three.

    on 09 June 2017

I think I know better what you mean or not with what you say, so shut up and agree!

    on 09 June 2017

    No.

    on 09 June 2017

With an attitude like that is no wonder that you suck!

< Chris Hu posted something on Azuren's wall:

Before you make further false assumptions about the Nazis I suggest you actually might want to read some books about them.

And before you start making assumptions about government, you may want to learn the actual difference between liberal government and conservative government. Liberal is heavy involvement, conservative is minimal involvement. The Nazis were heavily in control of their government, making them very liberal in nature. I recommend you learn that "progressive" and "liberal" don't share a definition, and while you're at it also learn that "conservative" and "genocidal racism" also don't share one.

But nice try. Maybe try again later.

    on 15 May 2017

You need to try again later since you are clueless about the Nazi's.

    on 15 May 2017

You need to try again because you're clueless about what liberal means.
