in Nintendo Discussion on 07 September 2019

If you haven't watched the comparison videos, do yourself a favor and check them out. This remake is looking excellent and we seem to be getting a whole new region of the Titan to explore! ...

Astral Chain Debuts at No.1 in the UK

in Nintendo Discussion on 03 September 2019

CrazyGamer2017 said: Chrkeller said: Nintendo certainly controls pricing of their games and keeps them high. Such is life. From a business perspective I get it, keeps brand equity.   As an example I would never pay full price for Madden, given I know it will be $10 within a year.  I also really enjoy Borderlands, but may wait on BL3, again because it won't hold...

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 September 2019

Oh, that's rough. Better contact Nintendo CS. Mine is chugging along fine after almost three years (launch unit). I actually put in like 70%-30% in favor of docked play too. ...

Astral Chain Debuts at No.1 in the UK

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 September 2019

Just in, "Astral Chain" hit number one at retail last week - a Platinum Games first. It's actually the biggest new IP launch for them since Bayonetta. Feeling overjoyed, as this game really is an awesome experience.  Source: My Nintendo News...

Sony: "You will see in the future some titles coming to a wider installed base"

in Gaming Discussion on 21 August 2019

Ganoncrotch said: Interesting statement, I guess they have seen some success with titles on the psp and Vita so they could be interested in seeing if they could shift a few last gen ports to the Switch at some stage in the future? If they definitely don't want to get into the handheld market ever again then not selling to it is just leaving money on the table for no reason. Hard to explain...

Alternate history: N64 goes with CDs instead of cartridges

in Gaming Discussion on 21 August 2019

Without Final Fantasy 7 and other prominent franchises flipping, there's no way Sony would have won the gen. NintendI could have still messed up 3rd party relationships with their arrogant approach at the time, but the storage medium was a huge obstacle for many 3rd party devs (which made up the vast majority of "Sony's" hits). Watched a Dreamcast documentary two days ago where a Sega employee...

Should next gen systems be fully Backwards Compatible from Day 1 to encourage people to upgrade?

in Gaming Discussion on 19 August 2019

I gave up on selling consoles (unless I own more than one) a few years ago. Now I collect. Backwards compatibility was never a MUST for me, but was a benefit in the past. ...

    Predict Astral Chain sales numbers!

in Nintendo Discussion on 19 August 2019

My guess is 1 to 2 million. This one is very hard to predict and I hope it sells more. I don't imagine it will sell more than 750k in it's first month. Again, hope I'm being overly pessimistic. ...

RingoGaSuki said: Well deserved. It's sitting at #1 in most eShops and Amazon best seller lists around the world too. I guessed 4.5-5m for this one, I'm sticking by that. It's a fantastic game. I love it but I'm uncertain about 5 million. My initial thought was ~3M. Maybe we'll see 4M?  ...

Which early 3D "look" stands up better to you?

in Gaming Discussion on 24 June 2019

I'm an N64 supporter for life, but I've flipped on this one. The blur filter that Nintendo employed muddied assets that should have been kept crisp. The PS1 has some awful examples of 3D pixels crawling all over the place, but I now prefer the sharper image of Sony's machine through my elobarate chain of line-doblers and uoscalers. ...

Digital Foundry Analysis: In Theory: The Witcher 3 on Switch - Is A Port Actually Possible?

in Gaming Discussion on 14 June 2019

Mr Puggsly said: In my mind, its kinda like watching DVD movies on 480p CRT TV when you could watch the same content on Bluray and 1080p TV. But in some cases, its even worse than that. The Switch version running at half the frame rate sometimes or just being much blurrier... no thanks. That's kinda a bad analogy lol. The reason Switch games look blurry at 720p or sub-720p is...

Barkley said: outlawauron said: Those subscriptions are huge money makers though. Live is successful and likely lifts the entire bottom line. I don't think MS breaks down the numbers like Sony does in that regard, but if PS+ subscriptions bring in more revenue than all of Nintendo, then surely MS is doing just fine. Right, but what drives the sales of Live? Selling...

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has sold 1.73 million copies worldwide

in Nintendo Discussion on 09 June 2019

So happy for Monolith. They make wonderful games. I really hope XCX2 or XC4 improves the visual fidelity, though - even if they have to simplify some of the visuals. XC2 looks quite rough on handheld and makes some shoddy compromises in docked play, as well: ...

    XCloud or Stadia?

in Gaming Discussion on 09 June 2019

Neither, please. Why do I want my single player games constantly hogging data? For a few of the games available on the monthly "service" I kinda get, but there is no appeal to "buying" a stream game to me. At least with Steam, you can download the title if Valve decides to stop carrying it. Google will literally have to pay to keep hosting any titles you purchase for them not to disappear on you...
