You're welcome, oh brother in the taste of things concerning Final Fantasy. Oh fan of VI, IX and XII, and thinker of the XIII undeservage of the flackage.

What are other JRPGs you love?

Well I am a huge Tales fan so I love the whole series but Vesperia, FF12, The World Ends With You, Shadow Hearts, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Dragoon and some others are amongst my favorite JRPG'S. I also love the Shin Megami Tensei games but those tend to piss me off, ha.

      How about yourself?

I love the FF series of course, Chrono games are amazing, Tales of I like (Graces and Symphonia are the ones I played) . Resonance of Fate, Xenoblade, Mario RPGs, Vagrant Story is one of my favs, then there's the Star Ocean, Suikoden and Golden Sun games.
Want to play: Pier Solar and Tales of Xillia.
Also love past WRPGs, especially everything by Interplay. Arcanum, Planescape and Fallout are the best.

I need to play Resonance of Fate! I've been wanting to for a while now but never got to it.
and Xillia is pretty great. A solid 8. Definitely one of the better games in the series so I reccomend it.

Thanks for your recommendation. Would have replied to you in the thread but I didn't want to bump it.

I ended up purchasing grandia after watching a review or two and some gameplay vids. Looks great.

and about Arc The Lad. I have played the PS2 installments and I wasn't a fan. I might play the older games soon enough though.

      x
About Arc the Lad on PS2, End of Darkness is just really really bad. Twilight of Spirits is okay.

The first Arc the Lad is your generic TRPG. Think Shining Force but better imo. It's not great but it's not very good.

Arc the Lad 3 takes the quest system Arc the Lad 2 did so well as a side quest and made it as side quests plus story progression. The third one is decent, but it's a huge drop compared to the second game.

The second game is amazing though. Now you don't need to, but if you do play the first game before playing the second one and level all the characters to the max level, 60, and also collect all the items in the game, those items and levels carry over to the second game. The cast of party members on the first game you get at about the halfway point of the second game. If you don't import your data they'll be around level 40. Importing data from Arc the Lad is the only way you get the best item in the game though. Romancing Stone can be equipped on one character and makes all spells 0MP.

Also. If you play through Arc the Lad 2 and want more of the game, Arc Arena/Monster Tournament requires Arc the Lad 2 data in order to play.

On Arc Arena, you can load two save files, say your friend and you want to play against each other, it's a versus mode with multiple different arenas. You can use monsters only at first until you get far enough into Arc Arena then use monsters and all of your characters.

On Arc Arena it has a small amount of story content as long as you can kill all of the teams in the tournament. When you kill them all, more are unlocked.

Also there's a tournament mode that is like a gauntlet mode. You can choose any of the arenas and when you win 50 battles, you can get the 25 buffed up monsters with unique skills and 25 powerful weapons and items. You can save and when you load your character on Arc the Lad 2, you have all the items, you acquired, the same levels, etc. So you can load back and forth between Arc the Lad 2 and Arc Arena.

Also. Enjoy Grandia. It's a great game. If you like it you'll like the second one, which I'd recommend playing Dreamcast or PC, not the PS2 version.

You might like Grandia Xtreme. Story is poor, graphics suck, dungeons are bland, but it's got good gameplay.

I've never played Grandia 3. So no idea.
