Was trying to reply to your comment on the Halo article, but it got so many downvotes that the reply function disappeared : / (I didn't downvote you btw), Yeah, you're right, I forgot Halo 2 did have hitscan, it's just 3 that doesn't. Halo 2 MP is my 2nd favorite after Halo 5 actually. Halo 1 didn't have proper multiplayer until MCC, so I never got much experience with it. 2 was good, especially for the time. 3 was ok at the time it released, but lack of hitscan kills it today imo. Halo Reach was totally broken by spartan abilities (and I hated the missing BR). 4 was an improvement over Reach, but still loses to 2 imo. But ultimately I still think Halo 5 MP is the best.

That's okay! I can't believe how many people downvoted the comment - it was mostly supposed to be a cheeky joke, and I thought that was fairly obvious. I became a Halo fan with Reach, so I liked the multipilayer on that a lot, it blew my mind because it was my first shooter. I also really like how many gamtypes there were in the playlists, there was even Campaign matchmaking originally(it might have been updated out).

To be fair, I played Halo 5 till like 2 months after it came out, and stopped playing. So maybe the multiplayer is a lot better, but I didn't like it. I liked 3, but I do agree hitscan is better.

The campaign matchmaking in Reach was great, it's a shame they never brought that back in 4 or 5. The multiplayer was ok, but some of the spartan abilities were kind of broken (armor lock *cough*). Since I already had extensive experience with 2 and 3 beforehand, the lack of BR hurt it alot for, the DMR was ok but just not as good as BR imo.

      For me the series MP is 5 > 2 Anniversary > 2 > 3 > Reach > 4 > 1.

That's fair enough. I honestly want to see the series return to it's classic gameplay. I don't think it will though. I kind of hope Microsoft stops making Halo games so that 343 can make something new instead. A new IP. I was such a big fan of Halo from ages 10-13, but now I can't support the series. I"ve played the originals too much to get hyped about them, and the new ones are just a drop in quality imo. It's strange to me that the most successful shooters in the market, like Overwatch, CS:Go, Rainbow Six : Siege, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S Battlegrounds, and DOOM are all doing unique things : they're filling niches in the FPS market that other games aren't (currently) doing. These games have proven to have the most long lasting communities, and while they don't have the sales of Battlefield or COD, they also have consistent sales unlike those two franchises, and a consistent community.

It's sad then, that Halo keeps copying from other shooters. Halo could fill the niche of the modern Arena shooter that very few games are doing right now, but it isn't. It's copying mechanics from Crysis and COD. I know that you like the games, but that's my perspective on it. Shooters are what got me into games hardcore, so I can't justify playing them anymore unless they're unique compared to other games. I just don't think Halo is as unique as it once was, in part because it's old, but mostly because it's evolution feels so contrived and botched. I like Crysis and used to like COD, but i'd play those games if i wanted "Spartan" abilities or ADS-like mechanics.

While it's true that the more unique shooters like Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege have found a place in the market, it's not exactly like Halo 5 MP was a flop. It's still the 8th most played shooter on XB1. It's doing better than Gears 4 (which released a whole year later), Star Wars Battlefront, Titanfall 2, and Garden Warfare 2, not bad for a game that is more than a year and a half old. It is worth noting that Overwatch has replaced Halo 5 as my personal go-to shooter, though I will definitely play Halo 6 MP for at least a half a year if it's as fun as Halo 5 was for me.

My point wasn't that it's a flop, though to be fair the last few times I checked Halo 5 on the charts it was at like 15-22 on the most played. It's fairly good, kind of meh for a Halo though. The fact that it's competition is Battlefront, Garden Warfare, TitanFall 2, and Gears of War 4 gives it even less credibility imo. I mean Titanfall was a pretty big flop, Battlefront had a *massive* unprecedented drop in players, Gears of War 4 got boring after a month, and Garden Warfare...meh.

It's successful, I just think covering that niche could generate more sales imo. But that's just me lol.
