I'm impressed by your knowledge of global warming, have you studied the subject or have you just got lost in wikipedias depths one time? ;D

      x
I have a degree in Geology with focus on Hydrology, so I did learn a lot about how earth changes/what factors change it/how you determine these factors from stone/ice/shell/tree ring/etc records in my studies, but I won't claim to be an "expert", as it's not my field of research.

      on 17 December 2016

      x
Interesting, so global warming is your field of expertise, can I ask you what do you think of Guy McPherson's very dire warnings on the consequences of climate change so extreme that according to him we have less than 10 years before total extinction? Perhaps a thread to discuss this would be relevant?

I just don't get what some of these deniers are trying to argue. The Gourmet guy thinks everyone should just take his word for it that #1 He's Japanese (or his father I guess), #2 His father was a published researcher, and #3 His father knows best.

      on 15 December 2016

      x
For all I know his father is japanese and published in tenfolds of papers, but he's clearly wrong. I honestly doubt this is his fathers work, but if it is he's certainly not a good biologist. At least he should know that the increased amounts of CO2 released makes the oceans acidic. What sort of biologist would stand by watching as thousands of species died out.

It's just bollocks, all of it

      on 15 December 2016

      x
I said this in the thread as well, but why would a biologist use an anthropologist/achaeologist work for their research? Even weirder have it be the crux of it all as well? Otherwise how else did it all get overturned?

      on 15 December 2016

      x
Oh so that's what he meant? I got fumbled by the english, it isn't my first language either. :P Now the study of fossiles is part of the study of evolution, so there might be something there. Doesn't really matter though. The fact that one scientist was a fraud doesn't mean that the rest is.

I mean, for crying out loud, I wouldn't be typing on this computer if there wasn't heapes of scientist that used the laws of physics to find out how to create one. I don't get it, do these people not believe in gravity either? Where do they draw the line to stop believing?

      on 15 December 2016

      x
I think most of these people just simply don't understand the process behind scientific finds and discoveries, or what it means to be a scientist. I find almost none of them are scientists themselves, or are even in the field. Even if they are, they still have a fundamental misunderstanding of just how the world works on a social and political level.

I know people who think that the government is trying to mind control us all (and is succeeding) and that they are lying to us all, manipulating all the scientific data in the entire world and all that BS (even though much of this can easily be disputed by just going into the field yourself).

Luckily this seems to be more of a problem in USA than in my country. Well, maybe I shouldn't say that since you are one of the ones that really matter... :/

That's a pretty fancy Edgey. :D Is the art style based on something in particular?

      x
Indeed it is. It is based on the best Nintendo DS game of all time, which, incidentally, comes from the mind of the same guy who made Ace Attorney saga.

I would have Spurge, but the topic has been beaten to death many times over already. The battle mode is a disgrace, and sadly for me the battle mode is the reason to play the game.

So I'm stuck playing races, which isn't quite as fun. Still pretty good, but I'm just feel dissapointed, and that drains a lot of the fun from the game.

Also there are quite a few other things that annoys me. The fact that the highlight reel is the first thing that pops up after the race forexample. Small, annoying little things like that. I also don't like the coins system either, and the fact that you end up getting coins 50% of the time in first place screws me up way too much. The game incentive me for being in second or third place, and that's just stupid. Also the video features feel half assed, either go all the way or don't bother. We should be able to upload the entire races.

Still, I've only gotten to play with it for two days now, and only in singe player. My oppinion might change, but unless Nintendo releases a DLC pack with battle arenas it probably won't.

At least I got Pikmin 3 for it. ^^

So you have a german Nintendo channel? I gotta check it out, I'm trying to learn german. :D

      x
Yeah i do! I dont think its the best for trying to learn german though. :D

      on 20 July 2014

      x
I'm not so sure about that. I just watched the video Sqeezol posted down below and it was pretty funny. :D

Luckily norwegian and german isn't so different, so it's pretty easy to understand. My main problem is actually talking german, as I find the grammar pretty weird. :P But the best way to learn the grammar is listening to people use it, or reading it, but unless it's interesting I won't bother doing that. So thank god that you like pokemon. :D

      on 20 July 2014

      x
      Thanks! :)
Yeah the grammar isnt really that easy. :(
There are so many forms of words... It gets pretty complicated when you're trying to learn it!

I didnt know that norwegian isnt that different from german..
I looked at a norwegian text a few mins ago and i didnt understand all that much. :D I dont even know this thing here "æ" :D

      on 20 July 2014

      x
Norwegian and Vgchartz doesn't work well together. :D I can't even write my own name without the code screwing up. I think æ, ø and å are the ones that doesn't work here.

Yeah, where you forexample have ein, eine, einen we have ein, ei and eit. Also words are pretty similar.

I do know quite a bit of german though, without that knowledge I would have a hard time placing the dots between the "similar to norwegian" words.

      on 20 July 2014

      x
      Ah ok. Thats pretty interesting!
I guess you have to learn german for school?!
      Shouldnt be too hard then!
Though i dont know why anyone would want to learn german. Its quite hard and its not really spoken by so many people!

      on 20 July 2014

      x
Yeah. In norway it is required that we learn a third language when we are in "high school." First being norwgian, second english and then we usually have to choose between german, french and spanish.

I don't really want to learn german, but I want to have good grades. xD Also french and spanish are pretty useless as well, although I suppose french is a nice way of impressing the ladies. I do think french is a tad harder though, so I'm not sure whether I made the right choice when I took german.

There are quite a few german tourist in norway though, so it's handy in that aspect. I watched the previous World cup final (spain vs. netherlands) with a couple of germans that didn't have a tv in their caravan. They brought german chocolate for me as thanks, as well as beer for my dad. :D

      on 20 July 2014

      x
      Thats pretty cool! :)
I also wanna go to norway sometime, i heard its beautiful there! :)
Can you see the polar lights / northern lights there often?
Thats kind of a dream of me, lol.

      on 20 July 2014

      x
The aurora appears mostly above the polar circle. I live in an area called Nordfjord, which is right between the two most famous fjords Sognefjorden and Geirangerfjorden. The polar lights doesn't appear so often here, maybe 5 times a year tops. In my oppinion the "exclusivity" of it makes it all the better. :D

If you want to see the northern lights I propose that you go to the northernmost places in Norway. From Narvik and up in other words.

Going to Svalbard is a dream I have, at certain parts of the year I think they have northern lights every day, including daytime (because the sun never rises at that time of the year).
