You're a really swell dude. Now tell me your opinion, please.

It’s a shame given the critical acclaim and the sheer amount of effort and passion Media Molecule put in this game, that the game will ultimately bomb. Obvious factors are lack of marketing and $40 price tag suggesting a lower barrier of entry to compensate for lower sales projections. Then there’s the February release, a relative dead zone to release one of your top rated exclusives.

Minecraft dominated the genre of “Play. Create. Share.” and MSs efforts the update the game and keep it growing/fresh has assured a complete monopoly of the genre. Mario Maker is another beast but Nintendo operates within its own ecosystem and succeeds regardless of what else is out there.

Not to mention it’s available literally on every platform, with a $20 PS4 version. Dreams is locked to one console, why it isn’t on PC, the most creative demographic of gamers arguably is a missed opportunity. I’d chalk it up to Sony doing what they do best: keep exclusives to themselves but in this case it limits its accessibility.

Then you have the double edge sword of how beautiful the creations can be but also how intimidating the game is to anybody who is interested in it. This game demands a lot of your time to do fairly simple things. Project Spark comes to mind.

I thought Sony would learn some kind of lesson from the downward trajectory of the Little Big Planet series. Unless Media Molecule switches into a different genre im afraid Mojang has effectively made Media Molecule an obsolete developer, no matter what Dreams brings to the table.

(To any mods that will probably see this, he did ask me, and I feel I did explain myself with a transparent train of thought).
