The Academy got its international cred by nominating Parasite. Also nominating The Farewell would have been overkill and would have...triggered the SJWs or something? I dunno. Social politics are dumb. The Farewell was excellent and it really deserved better.

That said, I was shocked at how much I LOVED Parasite. Going into this Oscars Season I genuinely felt that would be one of a handful of 'nothing' movies (Where nothing really happens and there's no primary conflict to propel the narrative...like Little Women), but it was gripping from beginning to end. Made me wanna go back and watch all of Bong Joon-Ho's work! Outstanding film.

I agree with all your comments except that Little Women didn't deserve a Best Picture nomination. Like I said, it was a 'nothing' movie, but I found it far more compelling, engaging, and gripping than Joker or The Irishman or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Which is strange to me becuase I love Comic Book movies, Martin Scorsese, and quentin Tarantino, with their respective genres/filmmakers regularly making my top 10 list in any given year).

"Nothing happens" in Little Women? Really? Just because events aren't all portrayed in chronological order? *groans*

Is that really how rigidly you think?
