I’m not really looking to have a debate about the merits of CoD, believe me, and I haven’t played it after 2 either, but I do want to say that it’s not just about that.

It’s about having ‘mindless’ fun. Call of Duty offers this, a complicated game like Metroid doesn’t. That’s a different kind of fun. With CoD you can just shoot at stuff for half an hour and see a bunch of explosions, and think nothing of it. And that’s in the end what most people want.

Perhaps I shouldn't comment too much about COD, as indeed I haven't played it for a while and you are right. I don't want to drag this too far off topic.
