They do rotating deployments.
So we get sent to the fire ground for 5 days, then sent back home for 2 days rest, then sent out again. - Fly back out tomorrow.
Does mean I have very limited ability to be on the forums for now, but the fire season won't last forever.

Are the fires so bad that the air quality in Melbourne is so terrible that Australian Open tennis players are legitimately having to quit matches? Based on the camera footage it certainly doesn't look like it visually. The fire footage showed pretty clearly how bad it is on site though.

I'm not fighting the fires over on the Eastern side of Australia at the moment, those deployments stopped in December, focused on Kangaroo Island right now... So I cannot speak about the quality of air in Melbourne.

These are photos I took on Monday morning. As you can tell, we aren't stressed to much about it. It's certainly not healthy, but definitely been in far worst, one day they might give us firefighters face masks.
