Switch certainly cant take everything. But it wouldnt be surprising if Japan focused games put a focus on Switch. It has a bigger userbase growing.

Their 3rd party reliance hasnt been that significant either. Japan just happens to really like Nintnedo content.

Sure it wouldn't be surprising, but you are moving the goal post.

Just pointing out PS4 sales numbers show console sales are stagnant in Japan. Maybe devs had the impression PS4 would do even better in Japan?

Not really, they had the impression after the first couple years (and was confirmed) that the japanese games were selling better than on the previous gen independent on where the consoles were being sold.

Action games do well in the west. So its not that surprising Monster Hunter, Nier, Nioh and Yakuza have found success in the west. Some of those IPs changed greatly which helped.

Considering you put all Sony games as same genre I'll have to accept that all these games are also same genre, Persona 5 as well right?

I am saying Sony wont try to make games Japan wants, its been mostly failure. They will rely on 3rd parties to hold ground. I agree they will stay focused making what the west wants, that has been easier and bigger market.

Nope you were saying they hope for the best. If you just said that Sony first party games are focused in western gamer (that includes RotW btw) I wouldn't say you are wrong (even though GT sell good enough on Japan and Japan Studio still releases games that are more similar to japanese interest games), but that is possible because they have good 3rd party support, they know about their support so that isn't hoping for the best.

I dont think Sony is going to make any serious effort to fight Switch in Japan. Maybe some moneyhats, but thats about it. I do think they're hoping for the best. But I think they're more incline to moneyhat games that do well in the west, not just Japan. Like Final Fantasy.

You are allowed to disagree with me. But I dont see any evidence thus far changing my view.

Sony isn't making any serious effort to fight Switch in any country, I already said it. Besides Street Fighter V there haven't been any sign of any moneyhat for any game on the whole gen. The exclusives were made simply based on the devs themselves seeing there wasn't enough money to be made by putting the game also out of PS.

There are Japanese games that do well in the west, that stuff has Xbox and PC support too. I think some of that stuff will never come to Switch.

But games with heavy reliance on Japan could likely be designed with Switch in mind now. That could easily discourage some Playstation sales.

Playstation consoles have been stagnant in Japan, but software sales improved? Talk about moving the goal post.

Persona 5 certainly has narrative driven focus like Sony games recently. However, Persona 5 is designed to appeal to Japan and weebs. Has a more traditional JRPG combat system. Sony makes games with wider western appeal.

You feel Sony relying on 3rd parties in Japan is just as good as any support. Our views are different but that's fine.

I agree some games are exclusive because Sony is willing to fund them. They also allow many of those games on PC because they don't see it as a direct competitor.
