But it literally does legwork in explaining stuff the OG trilogy ignored. Saying they "just tie it to Kait" too easily disregards how solid the structure/pacing are integrated into the world around you. There's a moderate wealth of details Kait's uncovered here that echo back on Sera's two previous worldwide conflicts: UIR v. COG and COG v. Locust. EDIT: This is where I make the "it's no Great Shakes" qualifier, of course. :P |
Well I'm not sure how much of the stuff Gears 5 explained was from the novels and how much was explained in previous games. But there was still some mystery behind it. Unanswered questions make a more exciting story, just ask David Lynch :D
This is just my opinion of course, but they went too far explaining everything, and they did it to tie it to Kait.
Yeah the UIR v. COG stuff was nice, completely forgot about it. It was great to add Paduk too. But even this stuff was familiar from Aspho Fields novel.
edit. And there was no solid structure or pacing in how JD's development was handled either. Any tension they briefly built was just wiped away.

Yes you should!
Must say, this latest update doesn't add much new besides too much grinding. But I love lore they're building up with this Mystery Woman.
