MLB probably asked nicely if they can put their game on other platforms, maybe offering something in return. And Sony saw an opportunity to make extra money by making multiplatform a game than isn't exactly a console seller and it's practically non existent outside of the US.

Definitely. That's why i said that it was probably MLB's idea and they must have offered something in return to make Sony even consider this.

It wasn't Sony's idea but i'm sure they weren't forced either.
