It's kinda funny seeing that in the IGN's GOTY user poll Death Stranding is winning and the comments section is full of people liking and defending the game, after all the shit IGN threw at the game at launch. The backfiring is real....

Death Stranding is going to be by far, the most memorable game from 2019. Yes, Resident Evil 2, Sekiro, Devil May Cry, Luigi's Mansion 3, Outer Worlds, Jedi Fallen Order, Fire Emblem, ... are mechanically and by any metric good games, but very uninspired. There's nothing that they do really wrong, but there's nothing groundbreaking about any of them, gameplay or storywise either.

Those games will have sequels that will use the same formula, only upgraded, and it will make obsolete the previous ones, while with Death Stranding, you have an unique and original experience that will be really difficult to replicate again. Good that the story and the gameplay are very good too.

After finishing the game again (i do this with games i like a lot) and doing most of the side content which expands the context of the story and characters, i understood way better the story this time, liking it much more. I even forgive the game for having some weird/cringy lines now and then noticing is just Kojima having fun, but everything else in the story is amazing and it must be apreciated that there are still creators with this level of creativy and imagination in this industry. I apreciated even more the gameplay and how the game gives you an agency over gameplay where you can play so different and in so many ways. It's just a very well done videogame.

People will keep talking about this game in 1, 5 and 10 years... because Death Stranding is simply an unforgettable masterpiece.

A-men

Transcending, cathartic, new benchmarks.
