Rune 2 publisher sues Human Head Studios for abandoning the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/rune-2-publisher-sues-human-head-studios-for-abandoning-the-game/
The launch of the Viking action-RPG Rune 2 was an odd affair, to say the least. On November 12, the game went live on the Epic Games Store; on November 13, literally the next day, developer Human Head Studios closed its doors; and then also on November 13, literally the same day, it re-opened its doors as Bethesda-owned Roundhouse Studios.
The day after all of that, Rune 2 publisher Ragnarok Game reassured everyone that despite the loss of the developer, the game would continue to be actively supported, including with planned post-launch content. It also made clear that it had no idea that any of this was coming, saying in a statement that "we found out about this news when you did."
Ragnarok made further allegations about Human Head in a message posted today in the Rune 2 forum, saying that the studio has refused to provide it with the finalized source code and game assets, despite repeated requests to do so. Because of that, it has now filed legal action against the studio.
>> And they ask for $100 million.

The Division 2 is getting santa hats, snowballs and permadeath
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-2-is-getting-santa-hats-snowballs-and-permadeath/
The Division 2 is a game about various armed militias competing for dominance in a post-disaster Washington D.C, but that doesn't mean Christmas is cancelled. Quite the opposite: in the game's forthcoming 6.1 title update a brand new 'Sleigher' weapon will be introduced, and it's basically a grenade launcher, except the grenades... are snowballs. There will also be free Santa hats, too.

Cyberpunk adventure Beyond a Steel Sky is being released in 2020
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-adventure-beyond-a-steel-sky-is-being-released-in-2020/
Beyond a Steel Sky is the long-awaited sequel to cult '90s point-and-click adventure Beneath a Steel Sky, which I revisited a couple of years ago. You can play the original here for free. The game, which is being developed by Broken Sword creator Revolution, was originally slated for a late 2019 launch. But game development being the unruly, unpredictable beast it is, it's now scheduled for release "a few months later" sometime in 2020.

Gloomhaven's big Frosthaven expansion sounds more like a sequel
https://www.pcgamer.com/gloomhavens-big-frosthaven-expansion-sounds-more-like-a-sequel/
Co-op board game Gloomhaven is finally getting an expansion. I say finally—even though I've only just picked up the giant box for myself recently—but Cephalofair Games has been teasing the thing for three years. Now Frosthaven is on its way, and with it comes loads of new characters and, presumably, another big box.

Rocket League players aren't happy with loot boxes being replaced by a shop
https://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-players-arent-happy-with-loot-boxes-being-replaced-by-a-shop/
Rocket League has tossed out its loot box system entirely as of the latest update, which went live last night. Given the reputation of loot boxes, you might assume that this would be cause for the community to celebrate, but it looks like the replacement might actually be worse.
