Anyway, solid progression systems that actually reward player for griding with constant "level up". Mixed with some difficulty spikes that will truly f anyone who's not prepared for the challenge. Also, one of the rare games to have a free progression system in it's quests/exploration of the game. Money is scarce, so planning is important.

Many of Square's main leaders left after FFIX a year or two before the merger.
