3DS did fall off a cliff (RIP Quickrick) after year 3 in Japan so Switch should start gaining ground on it from this point onward.
The big price cut and first revision in the first 1.5 years caused 3DS to be a bit front loaded while Switch went 2.5 years before getting those (Lite sorta acts as both) so the sales trajectory should be different.
