Shouldn't be a problem with the way the PS market has eroded and Sony not being expected to make any moves to improve things. Switch is bound to have much better first and third party support throughout its life in Japan, so the only factor (price) that makes it track behind the 3DS launch-aligned is merely a matter of time. Eventual price cuts are a given, so over time Switch will close the gap to the 3DS.

True, but if mobile gaming already eroded a lot of the 3DS marketshare, I'm not sure if the Switch will be able to stop that mobile trend. Plus, the 3DS had Youkai Watch and Monster Hunter, massive sellers in Japan, Nintendo will have to search for replacements for those...
