The long part two of the Monday news:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare narrative director defends Highway of Death
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-narrative-director-defends-highway-of-death/
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been criticised for a mission inspired by a Gulf War massacre that flips the perpetrator from America to Russia. Russian players in particular, but certainly not exclusively, have expressed their anger over the Highway of Death, but creative director Taylor Kurosaki has stuck to his guns and defended the mission.

Makers of Outlast tease their next game
https://www.pcgamer.com/makers-of-outlast-tease-their-next-game/
The intriguing image above was posted by developer Red Barrels very appropriately on Halloween, with a promise to reveal more soon. Red Barrels is the developer of first-person horror games Outlast and Outlast 2, but this tease doesn't necessarily mean we're about to get an official announcement about Outlast 3.

The retro horror game Faith is coming to Steam with a brand-new chapter
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-retro-horror-game-faith-is-coming-to-steam-with-a-brand-new-chapter/
The top-down retro-adventure Faith, we said back in March, is one of the best horror games to come along in recent years. You play as a priest, armed with only a crucifix, who must banish spirits from a haunted property—spirits who, it bears mentioning, will tear you into pieces if you're not careful. Faith Chapter 2 has a similar setup, with improved pixel art and "memorable sequences including the game's surprisingly violent death animations."

Xenophage, the Destiny 2 machine gun with a bug in it, is also bugged
https://www.pcgamer.com/xenophage-the-destiny-2-machine-gun-with-a-bug-in-it-is-also-bugged/
Xenophage is a sweet-looking exotic machine gun in Destiny 2 that dropped earlier this week. As we explained in our recent guide to getting the thing, its magazine capacity is relatively small but it fires explosive rounds that can chew through waves of enemies with an alarming quickness. But players have noticed that despite its ability to mow through trash mobs, the actual damage is relatively lacklustre, and outperformed by most power weapons in the game.

Rage 2 is getting its second expansion on November 14 in the form of Terrormania. As the name implies, things get terrifying: the wasteland has transformed into a "twisted and cursed alternate reality" and there are skeletons everywhere. Naturally, the skeletons want to kill you.

With regards to Classic, the good news is that Phase Two—which adds world bosses like Kazzak, the PVP Honor System, and more—will be launching in just a few weeks on November 12.

https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcrafts-next-expansion-revealed-shadowlands/
World of Warcraft's next expansion, Shadowlands, has been announced. The months of rumors and leaks turned out to be accurate, as Shadowlands will wrap up the faction war of Battle for Azeroth as both sides unite to fight a far bigger threat: The Old Gods and their evil masters, The Void Lords.
>> An expansion inspired by roguelikes.

https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-explains-why-it-took-15-years-to-add-more-ethnicities-to-world-of-warcraft/
With World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Blizzard is introducing a bunch of new character customisation options, which include more skin tones and face options that will finally let players create a more ethnically diverse roster of heroes. But why did it take 15 years?

https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-descent-of-dragons-battlegrounds-mode/
The third and final expansion of Hearthstone's Year of the Dragon is called Descent of Dragons, and appropriately enough, it's scaly bois all the way down. The new set was just announced by Hearthstone creative director Ben Thompson on-stage at BlizzCon, who promised "more dragons than has been in any set before." Above you'll find the full announcement trailer that goes into detail with some of the new cards.
>> And here you can watch 10 minutes of it.

All Overwatch cosmetics will carry over to Overwatch 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-1-cosmetics-overwatch-2/
Overwatch's heroes have assembled some big wardrobes since 2016: Hundreds of skins, along with other cosmetics that keep players opening loot boxes and coming back for seasonal events. Now we know that Overwatch 2 is coming, and it's a full-on sequel, with new co-op modes in addition to PvP multiplayer. Overwatch 2 could've been a clean slate that wiped away all those skins and the hundreds or thousands of hours it took to collect them, but that's not how it's going down.

Overwatch 2's first new hero is a Canadian named Sojourn
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-2s-first-new-hero-is-a-canadian-named-sojourn/
Overwatch 2 was announced today at BlizzCon with a getting-the-band-back-together cinematic that kind of got me right here, if you know what I mean. The trailer featured a brief look at Echo, a long-rumored new hero who shows up to help Winston and the gang deal with an oversized Megatron-wannabe who's causing trouble in Paris.
But Echo isn't the only newcomer to the team. At the end of the separate Overwatch 2 gameplay trailer, we get a glance at a new hero named Sojourn. Strictly speaking, it's not her first appearance in the game: She came up with the plan to take down Doomfist by going after his accountant Maximilien, and according to the Overwatch Wiki she actually appeared way back in 2016, as an unknown member of the Overwatch team seen in an old photograph.

Disco Elysium's lead designer wants to make an expansion and sequel, has already written a novel
https://www.pcgamer.com/disco-elysiums-lead-designer-wants-to-make-an-expansion-and-sequel-has-already-written-a-novel/
It's been mentioned in some of the glowing reviews for RPG Disco Elysium (our reviewer gave it 92%) that its unique setting was created for a tabletop RPG Estonian designers, ZA/UM, have been playing together for 10 years. According to an interview lead designer and writer Robert Kurvitz had with Escapist Magazine, he's also written a novel in the same setting. It's called Sacred and Terrible Air, and it's going to be translated into English next year.

Here's how Diablo 4's shared world works
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-how-diablo-4s-shared-world-works/
In my preview of Diablo 4, I said I was concerned that frequently bumping into random other players would interfere with the desolate and desperate mood. While you can solo the game, you can't do so without seeing other players in towns and around the open world.

It sure sounds like StarCraft 2's devs would like to make StarCraft 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/it-sure-sounds-like-starcraft-2s-devs-would-like-to-make-starcraft-3/
Speaking to StarCraft 2 production director Tim Morton and lead co-op designer Kevin Dong at BlizzCon earlier today, I had to ask: Are you making StarCraft 3? Blizzard announced numbered sequels to two of its biggest series this week, after all, so it's not out of the question.

Fight and build in novel free platformer Orudo Taima
https://www.pcgamer.com/fight-and-build-in-novel-free-platformer-orudo-taima/
It's a little rough around the edges, but there's much to enjoy about Orudo Taima, an attractive platformer where you have to fix up a boat. Conveniently, the parts required to fix it are dotted around the cursed island you call home, so you'll need to travel around collecting bits of wood, or nails, or other boaty bits.

Keanu Reeves doubled his presence in Cyberpunk 2077 because he enjoyed it so much
https://www.pcgamer.com/keanu-reeves-doubled-his-screen-time-in-cyberpunk-2077-because-he-enjoyed-it-so-much/
Johnny Silverhand, Keanu Reeves' character in Cyberpunk 2077, shows up a lot more than was originally planned thanks to the John Wick actor. Johnny actually lives inside protagonist V's head, on a chip, so he can turn up anywhere, but it turns out that Reeves pushed for him to have a larger role.
