For this, I am going to harken back to one of my childhood favorite games, Sonic the Hedgehog 3...

I loved everything about the game, but there was this one part that always brought the gameplay to a screeching halt. Iy was in the Carnival World during the second act. You will come across a dead end with a cylinder that you had to jump on to get it to move up and down. It is actually a mechanic that I have seen used in many games before. Anyway here you had to keep jumping with perfect timing until you could jump off under the platform you were stuck on. The problem is that the physics were so bloody awful that at first I found it damn near impossible to do, and later just found it an annoying diversion to slow my pace.

Throw in the fact that I always insisted on using Sonic AND Tails, and you have a recipe for a bad time as Tails would also jump with me, throwing off the already delicate timing.

You were absolutely not the only one lol. I would always try to make sure I had the water shield at that point to try to hammer it down that bit harder... not knowing that the only thing which mattered was any time I was holding down on the pad while standing still on the thing, absolutely mindblowing that it got passed QA without a diagram being added to the wall or something earlier in the stage somehow getting the player to know what to do with it, there was so many times dying there with 9:59 on the clock because me and my brother just couldn't get our heads around it.
