Microsoft only recently purchased the IP before they made the Coalition. Same thing with Sunset Overdrive. Microsoft only recently gave back publishing rights to Remedy for Alan Wake, so now they are free to do remasters anywhere they please for the specific game.

Bayonetta 2 and 3 are really first party. Nintendo funded the development, so they own the copyright for the games with Sega.

Bayonetta 1 is only published by Nintendo on Nintendo consoles, so it remains third party.

You just described publishing rights. This is why I used Gears of War as an example. Its an actual third party that became first party.
