How so? Since PS3's launch it outsold 360 every year worldwide except in 2008. Their total software sales were pretty similar with a slight edge to 360 thanks to it being on the market for an extra year.

As far as game output goes there's no comparison between the two. Sony completely dominated last generation.

You can have a look at the games they released last gen that were well received, here's a list as per metascores:

Microsoft:

Sip

Sony:

Sip

An over 2:1 ratio, of course things are the worst they've ever been for MS this gen, but they were never particularly good.

Why did you turn this into a list war? When i said Xbox's 1st party line up were out preformer Playstations that doesnt mean its about the qauntity output of games..

The major hitting 1st party Xbox games were outselling the big hitting PS3 games. Halo 3 alone outsold 3 of Sonys big hitters at launch. Even Sony came out and admitted 4 out of 10 1st party PS games made profit while the rest didnt.

The fact is the 360 made more money than the PS3 regardless how many PS3's were sold world wide. Money determines how successful something is, not just sales. In this case the PS3 lost nearly twice as much as the 360 while also selling less software overall but scrapped past the 360 hardware sales by 2m which is nothing in this industry.

Also is this an alt account? Never seen you before.

Idk or care how much profits a company makes, I care about the games they make. Losing money to solidify your position is also a strategic decision.

MS is doing it now with Gamepass, they're losing a ton of money on it in hopes that it will make a return in the future.

Similarly Sony was losing money last gen funding a ton of games letting their studios experiment and grow and it's paying off now. This gen they have half a dozen 10+ million selling IPs and more to come, with most of them looking to hit 15+ million, and Spiderman & TLOU2 will likely be 20+ million sellers. For comparison MS has ever had 1 game break 10 million.

The fact that the only time MS was remotely competitive with Sony was when Sony had their absolute lowest moment in playstation history says it all.
