Not saying you said it. But some Nintendo fans billed Splatoon as "the first new IP since Pikmin". Now if you mean the first character-driven new IP from EAD since Pikmin, that would've been a valid argument, one that even Nintendo agrees with. But first new IP since Pikmin completely disregards titles like Brain Age, Nintendogs, Xenoblade, among others.
