The Monday news 2:

Fallout 76's $5 junk bot was apparently meant to be in the base game
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76s-dollar5-junk-bot-was-apparently-meant-to-be-in-the-base-game/
As Fraser pointed out yesterday, many Fallout 76 players are unhappy with two new items for sale in the Atomic Shop: a refrigerator that slows down the decomposition of food and a robot that collects junk for you.(...)
Most of the player complaints stem from the fact that Bethesda originally stated the Atomic Shop would only contain cosmetic items, and the fridge and scrap bot (along with repair kits and scrap kits added to the Shop earlier in the year) aren't cosmetics, they have an effect in the game world. (Though I just bought the scrap bot myself, and I can confidently state it is practically a cosmetic item because it barely collects anything. I can collect more scrap in two minutes than it can in an hour.)

The ESA 'strongly disagrees' with UK commission's finding on loot boxes
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-esa-strongly-disagrees-with-uk-commissions-finding-on-loot-boxes/
Earlier this week the UK's Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport issued a report recommending that loot boxes in videogames be subject to the same regulations as gambling, which would include content labels on games with paid loot boxes and a ban on selling them to minors.(...)
Ukie, the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment, put on a happy face in response to the report, saying that it is "pleased the Committee acknowledges that the majority of people play video games in a positive, safe and responsible way," and emphasizing its support for efforts to increase "digital literacy."
(...)
The reaction on the North American side of the pond was somewhat more confrontational, however. "We take seriously the issues raised in the UK Parliament's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee report, but strongly disagree with its findings," an Entertainment Software Association representative told GamesIndustry.biz.

Gwent's next expansion brings back Radovid, has a better trailer than some full games
https://www.pcgamer.com/gwents-next-expansion-brings-back-radovid-has-a-better-trailer-than-some-full-games/
Of all the current crop of card games, Gwent has the best art—especially the premium cards, which are animated. But even the standard ones are ridiculously nice. The high production values carry over to the trailers, like this one for the forthcoming Iron Judgment expansion. That's the voice actor who played Radovid in the first game returning to narrate, as this expansion will apparently focus on him and the armies of the North.

Too Kyo Games is a studio founded by Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka and Zero Escape series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi, with several other staff who worked on the two popular series. Last year they revealed several projects including a game called Death March Club and gave some bare bones details, but now we've got a little more to go on.

Keanu is not one of Cyberpunk 2077's romance options, if you were wondering
https://www.pcgamer.com/keanu-is-not-one-of-cyberpunk-2077s-romance-options-if-you-were-wondering/
Cyberpunk 2077 promises plenty of action and adventure, but in between all the gunfire and fistfights and hacking and high-speed getaways, there will be time for some tender moments of romance, too. CD Projekt has previously said that romance—or just sex—will be "heavily present in Cyberpunk," but as we noted in our rundown of everything we know about the game, it hasn't answered the most pressing question of all: Will you be able to get busy with Keanu?

Every Cyberpunk 2077 quest will be handcrafted
https://www.pcgamer.com/every-cyberpunk-2077-quest-will-be-handcrafted/
Plenty of massive open world RPG games have procedurally generated quests: Skyrim and Fallout 4 are most notable, thanks to Bethesda Softworks' Radiant AI tech. But it's fairly common for loot-oriented games like Diablo and The Division to have them too. Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, definitely will not have them.

Six-year-old indie FPS Receiver gets updated
https://www.pcgamer.com/six-year-old-indie-fps-receiver-gets-updated/
Remember Receiver? The indie first-person shooter from 2013 where you have to reload your pistol in realistic, step-by-step detail? Out of nowhere it just got an update, six years after it was first created for a seven-day FPS challenge.

Hack the '80s internet in free hacking adventure Wardialler
https://www.pcgamer.com/hack-the-80s-internet-in-free-hacking-adventure-wardialler/
Hacking—films and TV inform me—is what happens when edgy, punky young people type endless code into computers, while never once using a mouse, or stopping to think about what exactly they're typing. Hacking—Wardialler informs me—is actually a much more thoughtful process, basically akin to detective work, but on The Net. You're allowed to give your fingers a rest now and again, and you even get to use a mouse! But you'll probably still be arrested at the end of it.

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be taking off for its first public test flight soon, in the form of its first external technical alpha. Recruitment for the alpha has already kicked off, with members of the Insider programme able to register by filling out a qualification survey.

The Surge 2 gets gloriously gory in its latest trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-surge-2-gets-gloriously-gory-in-its-latest-trailer/
The Surge 2, a game where you kill people and steal their limbs, is a little on the violent side, it turns out. Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive have put together a new trailer to highlight just how violent, slowing the action down to really let you enjoy the flying limbs and spurts of blood. Lovely stuff.
