Wednesday news, part two:

Borderlands 3 will be preloadable on PC, worldwide launch times announced
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-when-borderlands-3-will-be-available-to-download-on-pc/
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said in August that even though the Epic Games Store supports preloading, Borderlands 3 would not have a preload period because he wasn't certain the system would up to the demands of a major release like Borderlands 3. That situation has now changed: 2K Games announced today that Borderlands 3 will be preloadable on all platforms, including PC, beginning roughly 48 hours prior to the scheduled launch time. In North America, that means you can start preloading at around 7 pm ET on September 10.

Control will be adding more graphics options in its next update
https://www.pcgamer.com/control-will-be-adding-more-graphics-options-in-its-next-update/
Control has been out for a week, and it's probably the best showcase of raytracing in a game to date, with beautiful reflections, shadows, and global illumination all on display throughout your journey through the Oldest House. (...) Remedy and 505 Games have posted a brief update to Control's official site, updating players on what the development teams are working on post-launch.

Guild Wars 2's next living world 'saga' is headed to my favorite region from the original
https://www.pcgamer.com/guild-wars-2s-next-living-world-saga-is-headed-to-my-favorite-region-from-the-original/
Guild Wars 2's next collection of free story content is ditching the word "season" for "saga." Unlike previous seasons of what Guild Wars 2 calls its Living Story, the Icebrood Saga will be a series of content additions that break the linear story mission format that players have come to expect from the free content updates. As with past Living World stories, the Icebrood Saga will be headed to a new region of Tyria. Fortunately for me, it means a return to my favorite region from the original Guild Wars.

Hearthstone's next solo adventure is Tombs of Terror
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-next-solo-adventure-is-tombs-of-terror/
Just as singleplayer mission bundle The Dalaran Heist followed the Rise of Shadows, Hearthstone's latest expansion Saviors of Uldum is being followed by Tombs of Terror. This fully voice-acted solo adventure will star the League of Explorers as the adventurous archaeologists explore the ruins and cities of Uldum, with hero-specific artifacts as the rewards. Those artifacts will come in handy when they come up against the four Plague Lords in multi-phase boss fights, one at the climax of each chapter.

Doom 64 rating appears on Australia's Classification Board website
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-64-rating-appears-on-australias-classification-board-website/
Earlier this summer, Doom 64 was unexpectedly rated for PC by European ratings agency PEGI. The slip-of-the-tongue rating was quickly removed (and remains gone), but it definitely happened—and now it's happened again.

Ghost Recon meets Cuphead in this incredibly weird Breakpoint trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/ghost-recon-meets-cuphead-in-this-incredibly-weird-trailer/
Ubisoft revealed details about the upcoming Ghost Recon Breakpoint closed beta today, and also laid out its plans for the first year of post-launch content. But before we get into any of that, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the trailer up above, which is... Well, I'm not sure, really. The Ghost Recon cast is thoroughly cartoonish, yes, but I didn't expect Ubisoft to get quite so literal about it. That's meta.

New Apex Legends trailer reveals the many origins of Wraith
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-apex-legends-trailer-reveals-the-many-origins-of-wraith/
The Apex Legends "Voidwalker" event went live today, which brings us the dry details of patch notes and the animated excitement of a new "Stories from the Outlands" trailer. This one, appropriately, is about Wraith, the star of this particular event, who runs into a spot of trouble with the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation when she runs into herself.

Minecraft's DuckTales crossover would make Scrooge McDuck proud
https://www.pcgamer.com/minecrafts-ducktales-crossover-would-make-scrooge-mcduck-proud/
DuckTales, the 1990s cartoon about a capitalist duck and his adventurous grandnephews, is now three seasons deep into a 21st century reboot. I haven't watched it—I'm an adult—but I have lately played the excellent DuckTales Remastered, thanks to its recent Steam delisting. But never fear if you missed that revamped classic, because now there's another way to spend some time with Scrooge McDuck and co: in Minecraft.

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is now available on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/spyro-reignited-trilogy-is-now-available-on-steam/
Originally released in 1998 for PlayStation, Spyro the Dragon belongs to that pantheon of '90s collect-em-up 3D platformers that, while good at the time, haven't aged particularly well. And yet, when the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy released for PS4 and Xbox last year, the critical reception was surprisingly glowing. Gamesradar gave it four stars, writing that it "hasn't let go of its unique, kid-friendly charm".
Anyway, nearly a year later, the trilogy has made its way to PC and is currently available on Steam.

Dave Bautista will be a playable character in Gears 5
https://www.pcgamer.com/dave-bautista-will-be-a-playable-character-in-gears-5/
Dave Bautista has made no secret of the fact that he wants to star in a Gears of War movie. He seems like a natural fit—he's huge, scowly, and famously violent—but despite his enthusiasm, he's not very confident that it's going to happen. So, a compromise: He'll appear as himself in Gears 5.

Here's 15 minutes of spoiler-rich Gears 5 campaign footage
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-15-minutes-of-spoiler-rich-gears-5-campaign-footage/
Until this week, Microsoft and The Coalition have been tight-lipped about the game's campaign component. But thanks to a recent outpouring of previews we now know that the game features some semi-open world areas, as well as a ridable high-speed skiff. The footage above shows neither of those things, but it does prove that Gears' gunplay is pretty much exactly what you'd expect: active reload is back, and for all its promised advancements, it's still very much a third-person shooter.

We Were Here Together is an unusual co-op puzzle game, due in October

The third game in the We Were Here series has announced a release date. We Were Here Together features more first person co-op puzzling, and it's set to arrive October 10.
