https://www.pcgamer.com/trine-4-shows-off-7-minutes-of-watery-puzzles-and-mammals/
Publisher Modus Games are currently showcasing Trine 4 at PAX West, and have just released seven minutes of fresh footage, featuring puzzling, platforming, combat and its trio of heroes briefly delving into the fishnet-filled nightmares of a large blubbery seal wearing a fetching flower-wreath crown. As you do.

Untitled Goose Game is coming to the Epic Games Store in September
https://www.pcgamer.com/untitled-goose-game-is-coming-to-the-epic-games-store-in-september/
Untitled Goose Game is a game about a goose who is a jerk—so, a normal goose—who enjoys causing chaos in a lovely quaint village. The goose, who is you, roams the streets and yards, stealing stuff, breaking things, sneaking up on people and honking at them, and being an overall pain in the ass in whatever other creative ways you can come up with. It was announced in late 2017 by indie studio House House, the creator of Push Me Pull You, and after an unfortunate delay in February, the developers announced today that it will be out on September 20.

Apex Legends' 'Voidwalker' event begins next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-voidwalker-event-begins-next-week/
The upcoming Apex Legends themed event that Respawn hinted earlier this week would be all about Wraith will, in fact, be all about Wraith. Running from September 3-17, the Voidwalker event will feature a town takeover, a new limited-time mode, exclusive challenges, and event-themed rewards.
>> It's this week, of course.

Cyberpunk 2077 customization options, 'cyberninjas,' and more details revealed in today's Q&A
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-customization-options-cyberninjas-and-more-details-revealed-in-todays-qanda/
Earlier today, CD Projekt streamed about 15 minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, showing off two ways to play: the sneaky hacker and the guns-blazing fighter. After the demonstration, a few developers got together to chat about Cyberpunk's world design, character customization, playstyles, and guns.

The Avengers relied on God of War's combat designer for fun and 'data crunching' to balance it
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-avengers-relied-on-god-of-wars-combat-designer-for-fun-and-data-crunching-for-balance/
In the Avengers' opening level, you're more likely to die accidentally jumping off the Golden Gate bridge mid-explosion than you are at the hands of an enemy. It's a tutorial, and it feels like it: QTEs, quickly charging super moves, and linear fights show off Thor's screen-clearing lightning blast and Iron Man's steel beam-melting chest laser. Taking down baddies is easy and flashy and doesn't reveal the complex gear and stat systems that underpin the rest of the game. Those systems seem vital to keeping The Avengers playable for dozens of hours, but also pose a big challenge for keeping its heroes superpowered.

https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-will-bring-back-true-vault-hunter-and-add-a-new-mayhem-endgame-mode/
Gearbox confirmed at PAX West today that True Vault Hunter Mode, a more challenging Borderlands 2 game mode that unlocked after the campaign was completed, will return for Borderlands 3.
>> And here's the roadmap of the game.

Metro Exodus publisher says more Epic Store exclusives are possible
https://www.pcgamer.com/metro-exodus-publisher-says-more-epic-store-exclusives-are-possible/
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Klemens Kundratitz, the CEO of Deep Silver parent Koch Media, acknowledged that making Metro Exodus an Epic Games Store exclusive "caused some ripples," but said that Koch is "very happy with the commercial results so far," and might even do it again—with one slight change.

Watch 30 minutes of The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth's final gruesome expansion
https://www.pcgamer.com/watch-30-minutes-of-the-binding-of-isaac-rebirths-final-gruesome-expansion/
Are you ready for one last dive into The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth's filthy basements? The upcoming (and supposedly final) Repentance expansion is adding some fun new surprises, including the horribly wet and gooey sewers of Dross, one of several new areas showcased last night in a developer Twitch stream, which you can watch below.

Guild Wars 2's first expansion now comes free with its second
https://www.pcgamer.com/guild-wars-2s-first-expansion-now-comes-free-with-its-second/
While the bulk of Guild Wars 2 is now free-to-play, its two expansions come at a premium. Or at least did, until yesterday. ArenaNet has announced that the MMO's first expansion, Heart Of Thorns, now comes free with any purchase of the more recent Path Of Fire. If you were unlucky enough to pick up Heart Of Thorns in the past two months, they're also offering refunds, and a few cosmetic goodies for veteran players who own both.

This free Total War: Warhammer 2 update adds enormous, unique forts to defend and conquer
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-free-total-war-warhammer-2-update-adds-enormous-unique-forts-to-defend-and-conquer/
There's some big stompy dinosaurs coming to Total War: Warhammer 2 in its next bit of Legendary Lords DLC, but I'm more excited for the free updates coming alongside it on September 11th. In a development blog post yesterday, Creative Assembly broke down one of the free new features coming to the game, assuming you own both Total War: Warhammer games.

Ultrakill looks like a PSX game and moves like turbo Doom Eternal in this free demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/ultrakill-looks-like-a-psx-game-and-moves-like-turbo-doom-eternal-in-this-free-demo/
Mankind's greatest and final mistake, according to Ultrakill, was building robots literally powered by blood. Now humanity is extinct and the red stuff is running out, so the machines are plundering hell itself for more of that sweet, sweet murder-juice.

https://www.pcgamer.com/night-in-the-woods-developer-alec-holowka-has-died/
Alec Holowka, co-founder of Night in the Woods studio Infinite Fall and a designer, programmer, and composer on the game, has died. Holowka's death was announced on Twitter by his sister, Eileen Mary Holowka, who has since locked her account. She did not specify the cause of death, but alluded to suicide, saying that Holowka had recently been supported by crisis services.
>> Ganoncrotch has made a thread about it.

Chucklefish responds to allegations it exploited volunteer Starbound developers
https://www.pcgamer.com/chucklefish-responds-to-allegations-it-exploited-volunteer-starbound-developers/
Chucklefish has issued a statement in response to multiple allegations that it exploited around a dozen volunteer contributors on the 2016 outer-space exploration game Starbound. The complaints came to light earlier this week when Damon Reece, who is credited as a writer on the game, said on Twitter that they worked "hundreds of hours" without pay on the game, which went on to sell more than 2.5 million copies less than a year after it went into full release.

Mordhau adds Elo ranked knightly duels and improves kicking
https://www.pcgamer.com/mordhau-adds-elo-ranked-knightly-duels-and-improves-kicking/
Mordhau's messy multiplayer swordfights are a lot of fun, but sometimes you just want to reach out and stab one person in particular. Fortunately, developer Triternion agrees, as a major patch this Friday added an official one-on-one duelling mode to the game.

Overland hits the road on September 19
https://www.pcgamer.com/overland-hits-the-road-on-september-19/
It might have taken the slow and scenic route to get here, but Finji's strategic survival road-trip adventure Overland is nearly here. I've had my eye on this stylish little procedural hell simulator for a while.

Warframe adds a chill musical mini-game and its fastest Frame yet
https://www.pcgamer.com/warframe-adds-a-chill-musical-mini-game-and-its-fastest-frame-yet/
Warframe's latest update—Saint Of Altra—is all about contrast. On one hand, you've got Gauss, the latest playable Frame. He's basically The Flash, but with more rocket launchers. He zooms around so quickly that enemies just drop dead in his wake, and crashing into walls causes the wall (and nearby enemies) to explode instead of him. And the icing on the cake? His signature weapons are a plasma-rocket rifle and a pair of homing missile pistols that reload faster when he's sprinting. A fun addition for the twitchiest of space ninjas.

Spaceship captain porn fantasy Subverse cancels Early Access
https://www.pcgamer.com/spaceship-captain-porn-fantasy-subverse-cancels-early-access/
Subverse, the game that raised £1,668,626 on Kickstarter for its promise of a kinky combo of Mass Effect, XCOM, and rather a lot of sex scenes, will no longer have an Early Access release.

Bleeding Edge video shows chaotic combat, colourful heroes, and hoverboards
https://www.pcgamer.com/bleeding-edge-video-shows-chaotic-combat-colourful-heroes-and-hoverboards/
It's not hard to understand why Ninja Theory wanted to make a game that looks like Bleeding Edge after spending years creating the brilliant but unrelentingly dreary Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. The bright chaos of Bleeding Edge was available to experience at Gamescom this year, and YouTuber Arekkz has some off-screen footage that provides a pretty solid look at how the game looks moment to moment as you're playing.

Gears 5 has a level that's 50 times bigger than any previous Gears map
https://www.pcgamer.com/gears-5-has-a-level-thats-50-times-bigger-than-any-previous-gears-map/
Gears 5 will feature the biggest single player campaign in the series' long history, including one map The Coalition says is fifty times larger than any previous Gears of War level. That's accordiong to Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson, who provided a ton of new Gears 5 details during a PAX panel in Seattle Saturday.

Control debug tools find mention of DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/control-debug-tools-find-mention-of-dlc/
Software developers use debugging tools to test various aspects of games and make sure specific features that aren't visible to players using the finished version. These are usually disabled for when a game comes out, but as anyone who's ever typed "iddqd" into a Doom console knows, sometimes you find a few that can be used even after a game ships. That's sort of the case for Remedy's Control, and one player has used Control's debug to unearth a hint about upcoming DLC.
