I don't recall ever using the touchpad as anything other than a large button. The other features are used in VR. So, I'd be in favor of scaling back the size of the touchpad, maybe decreasing the size of the huge light that looks ridiculous (if the camera will still be able to pick it up properly), and otherwise leaving the controller alone.
If I could wave a magic wand, I'd have them release an alternate version of the DS5 that has offset sticks. I know some people like the PS layout as it is, so I certainly wouldn't expect them to get rid of it. But, they could sell a version with offset sticks for those of us that prefer it.
