No one is "disregarding gender"; instead, I am saying that we should hold people to the same ethical standard without respect to gender. Specifically in this case, that it is wrong to disparage all men as trash, just as it is wrong to say that all women are trash. Wrong to say these things if you're a man, wrong to say them if you're a woman. Even if you believe that the "weight" of these actions differs due to historical context, or whatever, it does your cause no good to permit (or encourage) double standards of behavior; attacks against men help to create or deepen misogyny, and generally promote viewing people through the lens of what divides us rather than what brings us together. It's no accident that leftist identity politics and the alt-right are growing together, rising together. They breed one another.
Your "tone" is a separate problem, and maybe you see it as a lesser one, but it is also a sincere problem -- and unlike how society treats gender, etc., it's actually something that you might have a direct hand in addressing.
