It is a full game. Describing it as "Episodic" was/is a mistake. It's a multi-game series. Mass Effect isn't episodic, and neither is this.

ME was released as 1 game, due to it's success it's spawned 2 sequels. If it sold poorly and was not well received it wouldn't have had those 2 sequels. FF7 is already out, we know the story and we've played the game. This is that story in 3 parts. Sadly, no matter how many people try and spin it, it's episodic.

At least you used a good example mind you, people using FF13 as an example just make me laugh, can you imagine if FF7R part 2 sold 50% of Part 1? It would be considered an utter disaster.

"Episodic" while not necessarily wrong by definition associates it with the more commonly referred to "Episodic" games, Walking Dead, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Life is Strange. Comparing FFVII Remake to being just an "Episode" when it is completely incomparable to these "Episodes" could be misleading. Typically each episode of an episodic game is around 2 hours long. FFVII Remake will be longer than an entire season of your usual episodic game.

I think the connotations people take from calling the game episodic is the issue. Star Wars is episodic, is it any lesser because of it? If Square had said it was going to be a trilogy, rather than it was going to be "episodic" I think the reaction wouldn't have been the same as it is.
