Ohh man. So many of you guys would put companies into straight nose dive into bankruptcy. This thread is great.

Most of these companies are honestly in no danger of failing anytime soon. Konami, for instance, has several different lines of business back in Japan including a chain of gyms as well as a slot machine business that actually does a lot of business in Vegas.

Konami effectively quit the video game... game because the ROI simply wasn't worth it compared to its other ventures. They figured out they were much more profitable pouring most of their video game investments into more lucrative industries. As much as it sucks for me as a die-hard Metal Gear Solid fan - it makes business sense.

My point was that a solid chunk of these decisions people would make have no plausible way of ever making a return, and some of them even have companies literally taking all of the profitability out of very lucrative franchises for no good reason other than, I assume, the posters want the game experience they want to be available or cheaper for them pretty much exclusively.
