You're misunderstanding him; he's saying that even though it was made and published by Ubisoft, a Mario game is #1, so Nintendo is "leading the pack of third party game sales" on their own system.
And these games don't need to sell as well as the PS4 versions to still be profitable. According to VGC, Doom sold 430k physically worldwide on Switch, but that was enough for Bethesda to bring over Doom Eternal.
