curl-6 said: We did the 90s, we did the 2010s, now for the grand finale; arguably the decade where the FPS genre was at its most dominant and innovative. What first person shooter released in 2000-2009 do you think was the best, and why? |
The is no one FPS in that period tbh here are ten that had an impact.
Half Life 2 - Raised the bar for story driven fps and popularized the use of physics in gameplay.
No One Lives Forever - Solid classic approach.
F.E.A.R - Introduced bullet time mechanics to the genre.
Deus Ex - Fps/RPG hybrid that takes the genre into new ground, multiple ways of tackling a task with actions having consequences later on.
Metroid Prime - Not a shooter per say but introduced the genre to new ground with its fps/adventure design.
Halo - Introduced a new template for console fps.
Team Fortress 2 - Modern template for multiplayer PvP team based fps.
Left 4 Dead - Put a new spin on team co-op.
COD 4:MW - Raised the bar for online multiplayer.
Red Faction - Introduced destructible environments and vehicles.
