Level 5 would be interesting. But I wouldn’t want their business team..Asking the developers to create sequel and spinoffs in such close proximity of each other created saturation. We’re kinda seeing that in Yokai Watch 4’s COMG numbers as they’re not even near the numbers of the previous games in Japan. Granted, Pokemon has had numerous spinoffs as well, but at least their mainline games don’t affect one another and create such saturation that a significant amount of their audience start losing interest. Pokemon has been able to do what Yokai Watch appears to be struggling with: adapting and succeeding once the phenomenon ends.

Tbh YW isn't really on the same level of quality as Pokemon so even with people saying well this developer did this well all well and good but that's not what the fanbase has been looking for in the games it never has been otherwise the alternatives would have done a lot better.

Pokemon is the successor of the Earthbound games as Creatures were the developer behind those games under their founding name (Ape) and brought the template over to Pokemon, those games have never been technically on par with others they sold purely on the game's charm and that continued in Pokemon only with the latter a sub-culture was created from the trading and multiplayer so these 3 points are what attracts people to the games (charm, trading, multiplayer elements). GF were always going to focus on these 3 points more than using flashy tech, SW/SH is even a lot more then what I expected them to put out.
