From an outsider perspective, I believe the impeachment procedure would be a terrible move by the Democrats. It seems like the USA is all about courting the center, and while the Democrats think they might have sufficient evidence or reasons against Trump to start the procedure, I'm not convinced the majority sees it that way. The Democrats have mainly been opposing Trump through scandalizing him (which obviously doesn't work), but the only thing they seem to be doing in my opinion is handing him a second on a silver platter.
Impeachment will only embolden Trump's supporters and it will damage the Democrat's possibilities to court the center in the next elections.
