That's exactly what I meant! Even before Trump, even during Democrat administrations, they kept on backing Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey, despite this is not by any means the lesser evil. IMVHO, it's a deadly mix of hypocrisy, short-sighted greed, old style realpolitik gone tortuously wrong, and incompetence, as just one of these reasons couldn't explain it alone.
