I don't think you got my point ... I'm saying that the reason companies release retro games like this separately is often because the other games aren't ready. Again, the issue isn't raw power it would be optimization. I doubt they could just release them all now tbh (inb4 they tweet that 2 and 3 are coming like an hour from now).

Maybe, but I'm afraid this is less about offering the games when they are ready and more like maximizing profits with every release. Otherwise they would have waited to release the PS4 and the XBOne version of the trilogy alongside the Nintendo one, and not leave the Switch as the exception, with the games coming both late and one by one.

I'm trying to throw you a bone because I'm worried about this as well but you framed this point in the worse way imaginable. This is seriously one of the strangest proposals I've heard. You even contradict yourself by claiming that you're worried because you don't think that this is about releasing games when they are ready, but then say they should have delayed a ready game for more than a year to match the Switch release ...

You think that they should have delayed the trilogy on PS4 and Xbox One by more than a year just to make a simultaneous release across all platforms?

The entire point of releasing the trilogy on PS4 and Xbox One was to catch people up on DMC before DMC5 released, and DMC5 isn't even on Switch nor was it planned to be.

Thinking that a product should be delayed for more than a year just to create artificial parity sounds oddly entitled

The DMC franchise is not centered around Nintendo and I think even you would agree that if they released the trilogy on Switch for the same price as it is on PS4 and Xbox One, there wouldn't really be any problems and it would seem fair. Which is why I'm not even sure you brought in the late release into this. Formatting your comment in that way makes it sound like the entire game industry should rotate around the Switch ...

Now, a much better way to say this would be to say that they should have worked on DMC ports earlier, which they definitely should have and I don't disagree with that. And it probably would have been a better idea to try and get the DMC collection to release on Switch at the same time as PS4 and Xbox One (although honestly I'm inclined to believe this wouldn't help Capcom's image when it comes to forum dwellers, they would probably just shrug it off because it's an old game). But the reason those released earlier really has a lot more to do with priorities. It makes sense that your number one priority would be to catch your potential audience up on a series before revealing and then releasing a new entry. For comparison, DMC4 Special Edition was released almost 3 years earlier than the DMC HD Collection, and that collection only released a few months before the 5th game was announced. So it's very obvious what the point of the release was.

I think that Capcom could definitely end up screwing this up, and when you look at a lot of releases it seems like that's the trend. The issues that people tend to have usually don't bother me as much as they do others, but price can be a very big problem. I think that ports like these should be used as an opportunity to introduce as many people as possible to an amazing franchise and if this is going to be $30 it won't accomplish it's goal. It might do well, as a lot of Capcom ports seem to, but it won't be as great a value as it could have been. Especially considering the original DMC is like a 4 hour game where you're supposed to get a lot of value on replays and mastering mechanics.
